I made a visit to this store 3 years ago and loved it. I recently moved to the south shore and made a visit early this week to the store to purchase some fun wall decor for my new home. Rose was extremely friendly and I enjoyed my visit. I purchased a few items as well as a paper quote. I was not sure of any of my purchases as far as size, but was NOT told I would not be able to exchange anything. Today I made a visit to exchange one of their products by SugarBoo Designs, a paper print because it was too wide for my space at home. I had picked 2 new signs to replace this one. Unfortunately the owner advised her employee that custom orders are non-exchangeable, non-refundable. When I purchased this paper quote, Rose informed me that 'she' (owner) carries these all year and they are fun. NEVER said they were final sale - From a customers point of view, THIS IS NOT CUSTOM ORDERED as stated on your receipt. In fact the quote that I purchased, you had 3 in total on your table. Personally I would never tell a customer 'no' - especially when one had 2 new signs to replace 1, which is more profit and less loss. I also owned a store years ago and would never say 'no' to any customer. Instead of a profit, you ended up with a loss. Maybe it would have been best to be kind at this time of year and accept an exchange. I was not asking for a full refund. The new store in Bellport - Simple Little Detail has a great selection, warm friendly service and has at all times that I have visited made their customers happy. My sister bought me a gift last Christmas that needed to be returned as my other family member purchased the same thing. The receipt was almost one year old and faded, barely legible. I thought this was going to be a huge issue. I mean, I’m calling from upstate with a half readable receipt who’s going to help me without rolling their eyes? Boy was I wrong. When I called the store, a very pleasant woman answered. I explained that I have a credit but no longer live on LI, it’s about to expire and wanted to know if I could use credit over phone from items on the website. She not only obliged, she gave me her cell number so I could text her my receipt! Easy peesy! She followed up promptly and I sent her the items I wished to get. After some back and forth she realized one of the items was not available. I told her to chose anything from the store she likes and just add to the order. The next day (today) she text me again with a picture of something similar to what I had originally wanted. How perfect is that!? She then let me know everything was settled and ready to pick up. I purchased several items turns out the rug I purchased was to small so I went back to return it and she had another horrible attitude saying first they don’t return rugs bc of COVID (no signs anywhere stating that or on the receipt) then she back tracked and said they don’t refund they only give store credit another lie bc the receipt stated otherwise.she did refund me after she just stared at the receipt and nasty said fine I’ll refund you this time? I will never shop here again bc of the way I was treated by her! I have never dealt with anyone like that especially shopping small business .
