Sadly I have to write this review after two years of being good customers to this business.
But first - Tony has been absolutely amazing with my toddler, and my husband really enjoyed getting his haircut here over the years. We were happy with the services rendered by him during our patronage here.
My husband and son got their haircuts here - regularly. We know that the shop is busy, and we scheduled my 2 year old son's haircut well in advance because I would be juggling him and his younger sister.
Our appointment was for 4:45 (NOT with Tony), to which I did my BEST to get there. I vividly remember parking on the street outside and the clock read 4:44 - so within minutes I was inside with the kids. I figured knowing that it was a kids haircut, and that we've been here, we would get a little grace.
When I arrived I noticed that someone was in the chair, and figured that he was finishing up a cut. 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes later, I soon realized that was not the case. I had the baby in one arm and my toddler in the other. I asked to speak with someone about how much longer it would be - and he said that he called our name several times so he took the next customer. When I explained that it's been difficult waiting with the two kids, the solution was TO HAVE ME COME BACK. No thanks. I'm just upset that after years of coming here, that situation ended like that.
So I left crying and overwhelmed with the kids. It was not the best. I wish it was a better situation, but it was far from it.
Sorry guys - but all this very stressed out and overwhelmed momma needed five minutes of grace (not even) so that her son could have his first day of school EVER haircut.
Update: In response to the reply to this review I am posting the confirmation I received for the appointment which was scheduled for 4:45 NOT 4:30...
Read moreHad been going to another barber shop for years for a skin fade and a hot towel shave. My previous barber used the hot towel but wasn’t great with a straight razor and I left scraped up every time I left thinking that was the norm. Boy was I wrong. Had been looking for a reason to leave and start going to The Holy Black for a while, and when my barber tried raising his price $17 “due to inflation” I took the opportunity. Started booking appointments with Tristan, my first trip got an amazing haircut but opted out of the shave. Today was my 2nd trip and I asked for the shave, and let me tell you the level of care and attention to detail was second to none. The man was raving about how much he loves doing hot towel shaves, and it really shows. He hits you with the shaving cream and sets the hot towel, then when the first towel cools he hits you with a 2nd towel. When he started shaving I swear it felt like he wasn’t even using the razor. He hit me with a 3rd hot towel in the middle of the shave to soften the skin back up, finished the job then hit me with some aftershave and a cool towel to close the pores. When I looked in the mirror it was the tightest shave I’ve ever gotten with zero razor burns, nicks, scrapes, nothing. The man is an artist, if you enjoy hot towel shaves or even just want to see what the hype is about do yourself a favor and book an appointment with Tristan. Won’t be going to any other barber shop anytime soon.
The barber shop in general is amazing, great service friendly barbers great music and ambiance. Do your best to book an appointment instead of walking in to maximize your experience, it’ll help the barbers optimize their time and attention so that you can walk out of their feeling fresh!...
Read moreThe entirety of this business and staff is top notch and made from the ground up. To the products to the services there’s not one option that isn’t a great experience. The scheduling system on their app makes it easy to plan ahead and to keep track of when you made it. The cut itself is always exactly what you asked for. I think it’s really important to be able to have conversations with your barber about what you’re looking for and in this place that’s what you get with any barber you sit down with. I’ve been going to both Kevin and Michelle consistently for some time and I can honestly say I’ve never left the seat feeling anything less than good about the cut I am walking out with, and it’s good to know if they aren’t available anyone else in the building would be someone you can sit in the seat with. It’s also cool to know that even if you’re not in their seat, each barber is friendly and the environment is clearly family...
