I hired Jack Novak as my prenup lawyer, and the experience was extremely disappointing. He had me sign a retainer for $1,995 plus $500 for expedited service, even though his own website clearly shows three tiers: $995, $1,495, and $1,995 — with the highest tier supposedly reserved for “advanced negotiations.”

Here’s the reality: we didn’t negotiate a single point. The entire process consisted of one 30-minute call, and that was it. Since this was clearly a basic, straightforward case, I asked for the bill to be adjusted to the $995 tier (plus the $500 expedited fee I had already agreed to). Instead of being professional, Novak refused and then hung up on me.

Completely unprofessional, poor value for money, and zero respect for clients. I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for legal help.

Update: A few days after my post, Bill Novak called and offered me $500 to take down my review - now I understand how they maintain their ratings. When I declined, they screamed, cursed, and hung up - shockingly unprofessional conduct for lawyers. My phone was on speaker, and my friends and husband heard it, noting it’s an ethical violation.

Also, clients have the right to ask how hours were used under a retainer. A retainer simply "retains" a lawyer's services - it’s not a blank check. They claim fees can go up if more work is done, but if services weren’t rendered as expected, they are clearly unwilling to make any...

Lawyer Jack Novack and his office did an amazing job for our pre-marital agreement. Easy to get a hold of and prompt scheduling are just a couple of reasons a 5 star review is warrwnted. His prices are cut and dry and you are well informed to the services rendered. He listened to my concerns and guided me through the process. Marriage can only end in one of two ways: Death or Divorce. While a pre-marital agreement is not something a couple wants to think about, but it should be viewed as preventing a future costly disagreement.
