My coworkers & I went to this place for the 1st time. The moment you walk in, there's an out of place glowing colorful floor piece to give the atmosphere a gaming look. When entering the building & going to a dining table, you have to watch your step with this flooring. If you do not, you're going to trip.
Ordering food from the screens they had I think was a good idea to save time from indecisive customers. They should probably consider putting more in there because at the moment there's only 2. Then you can choose to order at the front with the person.
I had the Final Boss burger with extra bacon, I paid 2 extra dollars for the bacon and I'm 100 percent certain there was NO BACON on the burger. The burger was pretty greasy and sloppy, but it did taste pretty good.
The milkshake was pretty good, though rather small and no size options. For some reason, my milkshake came first before everybody else's food even though I ordered last from my selection of coworkers. It was very unorthodox considering it also seemed to have confused the workers on where my shake was to go with the rest of my meal. My meal came last after the rest of my coworkers, but I expected it considering I ordered last. However, my food came after other people who ordered after me. I'm not sure if this was due to the milkshake coming first or they were being selective with what meals they were getting out.
The cheesy fries were pretty interesting and messy, but it was good. The seasoning mixed with the cheesy taste of the food had a nice c-c-c-combo flavor.
The churros I got were pretty bad, unfortunately. Too stale tasting and bland. Was given a liquid-based chocolate syrup. I've never seen chocolate syrup so watered down. Perhaps they stole it from Wonka’s chocolate river. Nasty. They should come up with a concoction that makes the sauce more thicc and fluffy to go with the churros. But the churros still were bad in taste and texture.
The games concept at the table was an interesting concept, but fails in this situation. For starters, where are the wipes to clean the controllers before and after use? Nowhere to be found. Just napkins. We know how kids are, but we certainly know how some adults are. People in general are just gross when it comes to hygiene. I don't trust the doorknob of any public place for that reason. I saw a response from a worker at this place on IG and their response advised there were wipes. Well, guess what? NONE were at the table I was at. There was a variety of games, but too bad the controllers made no sense as to which ones were player 1 and 2 on some of them. The system just did not work well at all. So then who's checking to make sure these controllers work daily?
There was no drink fountain, so everything was buy at the bottle basically. Which kind of makes things difficult because I'd rather not buy a water bottle for a few dollars just to hydrate after eating the salties meal I've ever had.
Atmosphere is lacking in this place. There's a narrow and rather limited hall with tables/games. This place should have gotten a building like Fridays to set up in because this location is not doing it for them. When the place gets packed, it gets rough to seat other people at the very limited tables. How about seating where they don't have games? What if people don't wish to play games and eat and maybe they just want to enjoy their food?
I think the biggest problem out of all this was the worker on the speaker. She advised that there was a lot of people waiting & that if people are finished with their food, that they should leave. It didn't come off too mean or rude, but what followed up was extremely unnecessary. In her words on the speaker, "If you're done with your food, you need to see yourself out." See yourself out is verbiage that typically is used for customers that are being KICKED OUT due to bad behavior. Wrong on so many levels in terms of wording. No place should do this.
I wouldn’t return. They need a better location 1st & then they can figure...
Read moreWas excited to try this place since I saw a video of their location in the city. Video games, junk food, milkshakes, what could go wrong?
We were a party of five, and the tables could barely fit us, had to move a chair in for myself. Whatever, it's good. Their selection of games was insane, thanks to the emulators they have set up. Everything from classics like Street Fighter and Earthworm Jim, to weird bargain-bin selections like George Foreman boxing and Sonic Blastman 2(?) The only complaint I really had about it was that the controllers would randomly switch who Player 1 was.
We played for a bit until we got up to order. You can either order with the cashiers or with the self-kiosks. We used the latter. Video I saw said their loaded fries was a must, so I got that and a milkshake for myself. My friends also all got shakes. Little did we know that ordering shakes was a bad thing, apparently.
About ten minutes in, the first one of us to receive their food was missing his shake. He thought, "okay, must be coming." But then the next of us got his food and he didn't get his shake, either. When they asked for them, the two girls working the front gave them a blank stare and acted like they each had three heads. Guess it didn't go through? But it seemed more like they didn't even want to make them or correct the issue, complete with a sigh and, "It's gonna take a minute." They then took another ten minutes to make those two shakes. Meanwhile the rest of us are still waiting for our food. When they finally got their shakes, one of them asked for a straw, and the girl THREW it at my friend! He caught it, but that is just passive-aggression on another level.
I stood up waiting at the front like some big shmuck for my food. I saw the two girls food running to people that probably ordered up front, but I figured since I used the kiosk I would wait to pick it up myself. My boyfriend was sitting at our table waiting, but when his food was ready, they announced his name on microphone over the PA like we were in highschool and he just got summoned to the principal's. No clear direction on how pick up works if you used the kiosk I guess. I'm just glad I was already up because I could visibly see them struggling to pronounce my name for my ready order (that's not a complaint, I'm used to it. Just freaking look at my name). And guess what? No shake. This time they at least acknowledged I had ordered one. Told me it would be a minute. So I waited seven minutes. At the very least it looked like the manager jumped in and started making the shakes. He made mine and apologized for the wait. In total I think we waited 30-40 minutes for everyone to get their stuff. And it was not busy when we first ordered.
The food, to their credit, was pretty freaking good. The fries are cut thick, and the patty meat was a match made in heaven for them. The Cookie Crisp shake was amazing; had chunks of the cereal in it. Would I pay $22 for both of those together again though? Ehh...
Then, when we were finished eating and just playing random stuff, the girl who threw the straw at my friend had the AUDACITY to come up to us and ask to leave a review. And she approached the same friend first with this Google-Tap thing that I guess would take our phones to the review page. When she asked if I would leave a review, I said I didn't know if my phone could do the Tap thing. She insisted it could, so I tried, aaaaand nothing happened. I have an Android for reference. But like, you can just look up the place on Google Maps and leave a review that way... The fact that they were insisting directly to us to leave a review was a little unprofessional, IMO.
I get the place is new, barely a week old by the time we got there. But I'm sorry, those two ladies had to have been on their first day or this was their first customer service job. Incredibly slow, passive-aggressive (even if they didn't mean it) and just overall lack of awareness. Hope they get better...
Read moreMy family and I had been watching the coming of 8 bit bites for what felt like eternity. I saw that it finally opened and decided to wait a little before trying the establishment to give it sometime to get through the opening chaos.
Yesterday we finally decided to go. Filled with excitement from reading about it. We walked into what feels like a barren lobby, though the floor is cool and lights up there is a lack of anything else. A few arcade games in this area would really make it look awesome and give something for the kids to do while waiting for a table to open etc.
We were greeted by a young lady at the counter asking if it was our first time there to which we excitedly answered YES! She said she could take our order or we could scan the QR code on our phone to order or we could order at the kiosk. We said excellent and asked her about the lunch specials. She looked at us like a deer in headlights and started mumbling something about she doesn't know the menu and she doesn't have a code to ring us up. So we turn around and instead order on the kiosk. When trying to process my card for payment the kiosk was not reading the card. I turned to try to get help from the same lady at the counter and was just literally ignored (I don't think maliciously I just think she has no idea what was going on) Finally after many attempts the machine finally read my card and we went to find a table. Where the tables are feels very cramped. You're practically sitting with your neighbor in what ends up feeling like a hallway. Upon sitting we were overwhelmed with a stench that is best described as dirty mop water. The tables had just been cleaned so I'm assuming they are using an old towel to clean the tables with. PPPU!!!!! Then we get to the main attraction right? The VIDEO GAMES!!!!!! We were very quickly disappointed with that. My autistic 5 year old son is obsessed with video games. Very little else brings him as much joy as playing video games. Watching his face turn from happy to frustrated because we could not get a game to work or we would get it to work and the game would just restarted out of no where. Or all it would do it play demo run throughs. We eventually tried moving tables to a different system and the same problems eventually happened there too so we gave up.
We with for the what seemed like forever for our food with "30 minute time limit" signs posted at every table there was stress to rush once our food finally came out.
We arrived to the fire alarm lights blinking but no sound. The light was blinking the whole entire time we were there and it was an annoying addition to the atmosphere.the music was loud and you have to almost shout to be heard by your friends at the table. Also, The entirety of our time there a man was running around sometimes full speed.Trying to get food delivered and talking to people about machines that are not working..etc . I got the impression he was an owner or manager. Though he was trying his best he did not have the time to slow down and address all the issues. The atmosphere was chaotic.
The food was very good and that was the saving grace. Though basic food items they are very delicious. Over all our first impression was not the best. Though the cost is very reasonable I think in the future we will be skipping the 8 bit experience. Maybe we will visit one of the other locations when we are in the city and see if the atmosphere is a little less chaotic and if the games...
