A Truthful and Honest Review of Airport Plaza Jewelers
I recently visited Airport Plaza Jewelers, and before my trip, I read through their reviews. I noticed many surprising accusations—claims of being rude, unfair, or even dishonest. I cannot emphasize enough how far from the truth these allegations are based on my personal experience.
Today, I sold an old necklace and some earrings, items I was parting with after careful consideration. Before coming here, I visited two other jewelers to get appraisals, and before leaving ensured I had a copy of my receipt attached below to validate the details of my experience. What’s important to note is that this is not my first interaction with Airport Plaza Jewelers. Over the past decade, I’ve visited them three times, and every single visit has been consistently positive. These false claims I’ve seen online simply do not align with the reality of their service.
Let me elaborate. The items I sold were a mix of platinum and white gold, which I know have a scrap value of approximately $425. Realistically, I understand I would not receive the full scrap value because any business purchasing such items needs to factor in their own costs and profit margins. The first jeweler I visited offered me $300, while the second offered $280—both prices I found unfair given the intrinsic value of my items.
Confident in my past experiences with Airport Plaza Jewelers, I chose to visit them next despite the negative reviews I’d read. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted by two gentlemen who explained, in no uncertain terms, that I could likely get more for my items by selling them privately. They made it abundantly clear that I was under no obligation to sell to them and encouraged me to make the best decision for myself.
The level of transparency they displayed was refreshing. They walked me through their buying process, explaining how they determine prices and their need to account for business expenses. At no point did I feel pressured or manipulated. Even though I didn’t reveal that I’d already been to other jewelers, their honesty and professionalism reassured me I was in the right place. Ultimately, they offered me $350, which was meaningfully higher than the previous offer. This significant difference demonstrated their fairness in pricing. I also ensured I got a copy of the receipt before I left so that I could write this review and validate my experience.
For the life of me, I cannot understand why some of the accusations against them exist. Based on my experiences, these individuals are polite, genuine, and incredibly fair in their dealings. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone looking to sell or buy jewelry.
This comes from someone who has both bought and sold jewelry and bullion several times over the years. If you’re looking for a jeweler who values honesty, respect, and professionalism, Airport Plaza Jewelers is the...
Read moreI wish I only had read these reviews BEFORE I took the long drive out there. I had sold most of my jewelry to Reed's Jewelers but I couldn't part with my HS ring, they offered me $120. A couple weeks later I needed the cash so I thought I'd take it to the Chicken Man. After all, his commercials say, "$200? how does $800 sound?" yet he doesn't tell you he would never pay you that! Anyways, I went there and he told me all my stuff was crap (didn't know what Welsh Gold was) but he offered me $80 for my class ring. I said, "no thanks" and figured I wasted the gas. He then said, "did you already have it appraised?, for how much?" so I told him and he gave me the $120...but what a rip off artist. It's one thing to make money but another to swindle people. Everyone there including the security guard were very nice and they gave me a little rubber chicken, but I would NEVER GO BACK THERE!! I have to tun the channel everytime his commercials come on. Can't stand phonies....and he's a minister????...
Read moreWent with two rings both which contained diamonds; men's. The guy that waited on me spent more time telling me about jewelry repair than what it was worth! Evidently if I am attempting to sell jewelry I must need the cash! He acted as if he didn't even want to weigh them to see their worth. He weighed one and the price he gave me for buying was ridiculous! I had to make him nearly perform that! My other ring which was heavier he didnt even bother just kept telling me about jewelry repair and maybe go home and think about it. If I'm not mistaken his job was to assist me in value and possible selling I shouldn't have to get into my personal business as to why I maybe looking to sell my gold and diamond jewelry and the diamonds are not small. I will be going to another jeweler whom perhaps will offer better assistance and cash!...
