I decided to take a vegan friend to BN Kitchen for their birthday because the menu lists vegan friendly options. This was my first time visiting since early 2020 (Prior to covid I came here all the time) The place was fairly empty. We arrive around 3 pm. After waiting about 7-8 minutes to be seated i had to ask the barista to call someone over. After we were seated, no one came over until i asked someone to bring us water (about 10 minutes later). As my friend was ordering they asked about a vegan bread option for the plant based burger. This burger comes with brioche bun. Why would anyone service bread made with milk and eggs on a plant based burger? The server said she didn't know if there were other options. After a blank stare, I asked her to find out. She comes back and says we can sub with sourdough but I have to charge you. (Yeap, charge for a downgrade). We agreed. The meals were ok, not as good as I remember. The sourdough toast was over toasted and the edges weren't edible. When the bill came it appears they don't actually have a way to up charge for bread. Instead we were charged for avocado... Perhaps I am being too sensitive but Ive never been charged to sub for toast for a fancy bun on an almost $20 burger

Good overall location. Don't let the outside throw you off - it looks small from the outside, but once you head down with either an escalator or an elevator, you can see the full size of this location. You can also access this from the side of the building down a flight of stairs. This one was busier than other locations I went to, though this was also on a weekend which might explain it. It's standard as far as what Barnes & Noble generally carries. What they don't have, they can always order for you. If you're looking for blu ray/DVDs, you won't find any here at all - which is a bit disappointing. They do have vinyl though. Only had interaction with one employee and he was friendly. Most others I saw were with customers. Located in the Vernon Hills Shopping Center mall, there is plenty of parking. It's a generally busy shopping area, so use caution in the lot. A good location, but I don't see myself coming back here unless I'm in the immediate area and need to.

My visit here will be in my heart forever. I visited Saturday for the RL Stine book signing with my kids…after some issues with my tickets (my fault) I was intercepted by Dorothy as she took charge to make the day everything I hoped it would be. She immediately solved the issue, which in turn allowed me to sit with my boys and enjoy the experience alongside them. The entire team, (I only managed to overhear a few names: Dahlia and Jason but SO many other amazing staff members present!) were wonderful at smoothing out my worries and making us destress and just focus on what we came for…to hear from this amazing author and fulfill my sons dream to meet his idol. Dorthy even gave my boys a little swag bonus gift and HAND WRITTEN thank you card to me for making the 8 hour trip to be a guest at the venue. I know for a fact without the B&N staff here this day wouldn’t have been as great as it was. Such a dream team! Thank you from a grateful Mom in Northern Massachusetts 🙏🏼💚

Close your eyes in the present and take your vision back in time as you journey to the 1980s along with Wally, Herbie and Alohonse, “Cockroach, to when playing outside , fun antics and taking chances were the highlight of their days. High school over and lessons learned I the summer of 1986 that would change their lives and relived in the pages of this book. The author’s message in Dear Reader and priceless mementos in 2025 starts the one long forgotten memory related on page 14 when Herbie swept down the warm steam of nostalgia and back where it all began to where his brothers Wally , Cockroach were waiting for him. Let’s go along with them on the journey as family unity, high school graduation and the styles and mores of the time. Chapter 2 is hilarious and introduces the guys as you get to know their personalities and get evens. Then girls take their attention will they really get gum to share with them? Bubble Yum of choice! The three are truly hysterical and their antics true to life. Wally and the armed forces really did not turn out as he thought. Herbie passing his driving test and the family in different directions. Then Wally told to challenge someone in something I did too: arm wrestling you have to read it for yourself. Chapter 10 and Ma sending Cockroach to the store and and a break from YoYo training, he and the others exactly what are they up too. Lincoln Park join the fun as Wally might deal with college. The chapter takes him in many directions and just who is the girl? The Pearl was a powerful chapter as you read Herbie’s thought on page 155 and how Herbie washed dishes and his new attire. What happens when his father shows up at The Pearl drunk? Saying Goodbye is tragic and sad as their Memore is about to leave the world. How did she make piece with it and pages 168-171 will bring tears to your eyes as you read the final obituary. Their mother tried to help them understand. The Hike and poor Kayla the dog plus telling his dad about hand with his buddies and fun. The next few chapters you need to read for yourselves as life takes some hard turns Laid Off, but not for long and A New Perspective you decide the meaning. The growth and maturity of all three varies and their father’s relationship with them remains constant but changed. Tough as nails but inside different as the final year of 1986 comes to a dramatic close. You ucan always reread this heartfelt, humorous and inspiring account of how Wally, Herbie and Cockroach and friend whether the many storms and more. The last two chapters tie it all as high school ends, life changes and just where will they all wind up. Yo Yo practice was u. We used to compete during the summers plus paddle ball too. This book brings smiles, hugs, tears and memories to so many of a year which chat so many lives. The last chapter will bring g tears to your eyes as a phone number brings it back to the present. The author takes Wally, Herbie and Cockroach back in time as Herbie’s dream sine day might be your own of your special moment in time. High school graduation is so exciting and then dealing with your future comes hard as all three brothers it sounds have more to come in the present. Fran Lewis...

Incredibly disappointed with how rude a sales associate was in the children’s section. The representative could clearly see I was with two young children. They enjoy books but admittingly were a bit too ambitious with how many books they wanted to purchase. As My children were trying to choose which books to purchase from the short stack, the associate was huffing and puffing at how many books were taken out of the shelves. As I tried to put some back on the shelves, my children got tempted to select a few more and I knew we had to make our exit. (Especially considering how the representative was following us as we were going from shelf to shelf trying to return some in their rightful place.) As I grabbed the pile of books we WERE purchasing the associate then barks out, so you’re not buying the rest of these? (Referring to the remaining pile of books, I could not put back on the shelf). And I begrudgingly responded No, only to hear a loud scoff in response. Lesson learned I’ll be taking the kids to our local library so they can be exposed to different kinds of books and then buying those books from Amazon going forward. Im even more disappointed considering I was recommended this location as being incredibly friendly with a great dining experience from another mother of...
