Anytime Fitness — Attraction in Town of Goshen

I joined Anytime fitness in Goshen, NY first as a month to month member $75 per month plus sign up fee. After going for about a month, I realized Anytime Fitness takes my health insurance. So I wanted to sign up as a yearly contract member and my wife wanted to do so as well. Using our insurance. My wife contacted the the Goshen, NY location where I was currently a month to month member. Whoever picked up the phone stated that they have met their members with insurance quota and would be unable to switch my plan and sign my wife up. She was told by the staff there to try contacting Walden, Cornwall or Warwick locations, they may be better to accommodate you. Which seemed weird to me because the way gyms make money is monthly subscriptions, contracts & sign up fees. After she hung up the phone my wife contacted the Walden, Ny location and was told by the staff they would gladly take our insurance and to come on down to get signed up. So we both got signed up and are now paying $28ea per month with our insurance and are very happy. I went back to the Goshen, Ny location and canceled my month to month membership there and when Jennifer asked why I was canceling I told her why. I paid the remaining balance for the month, returned my key fab and told her I would still be seeing her once in a while. As it states on the anytime fitness website I would have access to any gym location after being a member for 30 days. That is one of the reasons that I originally signed up there. What I did not realize until a few weeks later is that Jennifer deactivated my new key fab and I could no longer access the Goshen Location. But, my key fab still worked in the Walden & Cornwall Locations. Before I just fired up a negative review, my wife went and talked to the staff at the Cornwall location (I wanted to make sure it was not just a computer glitch)and she was told there was nothing they could do to fix it because I was blocked at the Goshen Location. In my opinion that shows horrible customer service, retaliating at a member because you did not want to take their money & a second membership. Your are cheating me & other members out of our membership benefits! Business 101 a satisfied customer tells 2 to 3 people how good you are, an unhappy customer tells 10+ people how much you suck! I would advise anyone looking into Anytime Fitness not to sign up at the Goshen location. Especially if you want to use your health insurance. I will be contacting corporate to voice my situation and run it up the flag pole. This review is not trashing Anytime Fitness, just the Goshen, NY location. If you want to sign up at Anytime Fitness please do so at the Walden, Warwick, & Cornwall locations. Staff is very friendly, accommodating and they don't block you if you signed up at another location. I understand you do not participate in the insurance program. That's just a small part of the issue. The main issue is that you deactivated my key fab from working at your location which is a violation of your franchise agreement. Just because I use insurance does not mean I cannot occasionally visit your location. Furthermore I went over your head called self esteem brands and had the problem fixed. Just celebrated 1 year at the gym in May and it was the best decision I’ve made. I belong to another gym but always choose Anytime Fitness in Goshen. Jane is so warm and welcoming, from the first day when I signed up to every time I walk into the gym. It makes a huge difference when you’re greeted by name and she makes you feel important and that she’s happy that you’re there. It makes me want to come back day after day, and night after night, and I can because Anytime Fitness is open 24/7 365! This gym never closes, which gives it an advantage over every other gym in the area. No matter if you go at 2pm or 2am, the gym is well-lit, clean and ready for anyone looking to better themselves physically! The owners have invested in great equipment, and I’ve seen more progress here at Anytime Fitness than I’ve seen in years at that other gym. Highly recommended…if you’re hesitant, don’t be. This gym is so much more inviting and clean and welcoming then I was expecting. I've only been going for a few weeks, trying to do 3 times a week and usually at night (kids and work) but every time I go in, if someone is working they always greet with a smile and hello, the place is always so clean, people there are very friendly and it doesn't have that judgemental feeling some gyms have. I've always struggled with gyms from being insecure or feeling like i'm being judged but this has been such a good experience. The employees do such a good job taking care of the place, the other members are friendly and not inappropriate which is absolutely a worry nowadays. I've already recommended the gym to friends who are looking for a gym, so thank you for building such a great place to work out.
