I know absolutely nothing about music, but my daughter said she wanted a guitar, so I took her to guitar center to see what we could learn about them.
As soon as we walked in we were greeted by Aiden, who asked if we had any questions, or needed any help with anything. I told him my daughter was interested in getting a guitar, he asked a few questions, and let her hold a couple to narrow down the type she wanted, which was ultimately an acoustic guitar. He let us look around without any kind of pressure or rush, and we ended up buying the acoustic guitar he showed us, which fits her very well and was a very reasonable price for a child's first guitar. He suggested some picks and a strap, showed us where they were, and gave us space to look and pick them out.
I then asked Aiden about lessons, and he was able to hook us up with Jakob, who was also very welcoming and helpful. Jakob told us about lessons, prices, scheduling, and everything else involved. He was very patient and thorough, and made sure we knew what we were doing. He got us set up with Sarenna for some lessons, which we will be able to start this weekend already! He also had an extra carrying case that was a perfect fit for my daughter's new guitar, and gave it to her for free.
Overall, this was an absolutely great experience, and an excellent beginning to my daughter's musical journey!
Going to a specialty store like this can be very hit or miss, but Grand Chute Guitar Center is a definite hit!
Big thanks to Aiden and Jakob for helping my daughter and I out so much!
Update 9/28/25:
My daughter had her first lesson with Sarenna, and she really liked them. I sat in with her, because she was a little nervous being her first lesson, and Sarenna was really great with her. They really know how to connect with kids, and took their time making sure she understood, before moving on. They were encouraging, patient, and fun the whole time. I am very happy we found them, and look forward to continued lessons, and possibly my other daughter taking violin lessons with them.
A lot of people can play instruments, but they can't all effectively teach those skills. Sarenna definitely can, and they are very...
Read moreThis is my third review making my whole life! I don't go out of my way writing reviews, but. This is something that should be shared. wish I could share this to the CEO of guitar center.
The experience at Guitar center in Appleton WI was over the top 5 star. Talking to the store manager MATTHEW STUCKRATH, was beyond a experience that Sweetwater had to offer. I drove to Indiana Sweetwater over 4 hours there and 4 hours back to check there inventory and to see what this whole fuss is about. It was a waist of time, waist of money, waist of gas, I felt like I should have gone to the casino instead of going for the trip!
I can NOT compare sweetwater to guitar center at ALL.
The customer service that MATT and his team gives to keep external customers happy and to keep coming back is unbelievable. I already spend well over $6,000 this past month at guitar center and I DO NOT REGRET IT! I know I would have regretted it if I would have spend it at sweetwater and this is why.
People at guitar center do care about there customers, and still care about them even AFTER the purchase of items.
I noticed IF they are not knowledgeable for questions you ask, they say, I do not know. They don't pretend to know what you are saying just for the sale.
They let you know about new items, or different items that may be better fit for your project or ideal of what you want to do, sometimes its cheaper.
an when you want to browse they do not hang like hawks, but yet are ready for questions.
If i would have to say anything bad about guitar center, is music, have music on for customers, like low rock, Ac-Dc or something to get us in the vibe not so loud to distract us from playing with instruments.
but, yes, I would say to ANY unsatisfied customers, go to MATT, he listens to what you want, listens to what you need, and will get you from pissed, to coming back and writing a review. I LOVE and RESPECT a company who backs up what they do. If it was not for Matt, I would not be going to Guitar center right now to purchase a microphone that I need.
Hope this helps with other customers so they get to get the same experience as I did, and to save money for a wast full trip to out of...

The salesperson wasn't interested in assisting me, dressed down and casual on my day off, passing me over for an older gentleman. He went on to answer all of his questions, making recommendations, and even sold him a small unit the olde fella assured him would be returned tomorrow! Then began to walk past me in the department, asking if I might need any help as an afterthought. To which I replied, I wasn't interested in any help from him specifically.
Another gentleman appeared in the department, so I asked if he was a commission salesperson I could give my order to. I found out that this was the "Store Manager", so I figured I was about to have my experience turned around in a jiffy! Right? No. He said very bluntly that he didn't know what his associate's issue was and that he came out because the salesperson told him I was here and didn't want help from him... but he didn't know why.
This individual wasn't interested in why my only experience in their store was a negative one, or what they could do to fix that, but whether or not they could take my money.
The manager went ahead and confirmed this last bit by calling out a "it was nice to meet you" while I was leaving. It was not nice to meet me. I'm 100% sure of that, so it's almost as if this snake says stuff he doesn't mean.
I went to Exclusive Company and purchased the recording equipment I walked into Guitar Center ready to buy, and walked out a happy...
