This store has serious problems with frozen and chilled food which is clearly not being stored correctly. I bought frozen food there that was mouldy when the box was opened - this could only happen if the product had become wet when defrosting and was then refrozen. Milk, cheese and eggs are regularly left out on carts in aisles, even on warm days. Several times, my milk has soured well before the sell-by date, presumably because it's been left to warm before being put in the chilled cabinet. I contacted the store about my concerns directly through facebook and was immediately blocked. I then contacted the head office who have so far brushed off and ignored the issue. How long before a customer gets sick because of the store's unhygienic procedures?

Really Foodtown Hastings?? Do you really need to stick pricing tags on individual ORGANIC products? And one more thing - please learn the art of restocking, it’s not that hard really.. the staff is very good.

$1.50 for a bag?! this is getting out of hand. Also, why are they “Green Way market” bags? Please offer cheaper alternatives (like paper.)

I frequent the Palisade Avenue store in Yonkers. However, they miss the mark when it comes to customer service in their deli. Therefore I thought I would try Hastings. Well, just like the Yonkers store, the Produce section is overstocked, thereby creating bad product because of the lack of good refrigeration or too much of it. Their prices are ridiculous. To add insult to injury, their deli is just as bad, if not worse than the Yonkers store. Last week, I bought Alpine Lace Swiss Cheese and the slices appeared to have been put through a shredder and the Honey Maple Turkey was rolled before packing, breaking down the meat from what should have been slices to confetti. Not going to Hastings again. Yonkers, only in an emergency. I'm pretty much done...

I'm really happy with Foodtown. When A&P closed, I was really worried that Hastings wouldn't get another everyday supermarket. Some folks wanted to see a Trader Joe's come in, but I was hoping for just a well-stocked and reasonably priced ordinary supermarket with nice staff people. Foodtown was exactly what I was hoping for. I go there for all my essentials. There's nothing fancy about it. They do the basics really well. The bakery is especially good, as is the produce and beer selection. The staff is a notch above what we had at A&P, and they're really courteous and helpful. I hope they stay in business a...
