this is my first Google review ever but I felt inclined once I read other reviews expressing the same uneasiness of being followed. I’ve shopped at Ulta for years and given honestly thousands of dollars to this business and been at several locations. this was my first time at this location, I came in shopping for a gift and it was rather empty, which may be why there was nothing better for the security guard to do than to follow me at every turn and try to do it in unsuspecting ways which may work for people who aren’t self aware. i’m not sure what the reason may be, my hands were already full with my phone and my wallet as i had no bag, no jacket and even no pockets. from the perfume section where i was waiting for help to the remainder of the store she followed and at one point when i moved to a different isle, even had to walk right in front of me there with an “excuse me” (although there was of course plenty of room around), i’m aware it was a tactic of stalking for lack of better words. as one does when they go to ulta, i end up choosing other items to replenish my skin care which i didn’t plan on initially, and dropped a good molecules package on the floor and picked it up. the security guard ears perked as she saw an opportunity to so thoughtfully come over and say “miss, you’re dropping things, here is a shopping bag!” very coy! i said i just finished, thank you, and proceeded to the cash register to buy the perfume they put on hold for me and the rest of my items. just a very weird and uncomfortable experience being stalked at every turn with obvious tactics. i know people have jobs to do, but this was just too much as a regular shopper who was just trying to have another normal experience. I only came to this location since i needed a last minute gift, otherwise i would not subject myself to this uncomfortable...
Read moreSunday July at approximately 2pm Eastern Time, I was shopping at the Ulta Beauty on 16 Lawrence Street in Dobbs Ferry NY. I was proceeding to checkout when the chip malfunctioned in my card (my card is brand new and I have had issues with my previous purchase, but the employee manually punched it in) and it worked no problem. I also have plenty of money in my bank account, so that was not the issue.
I tried asking the Ulta employees and she had told me that she cannot manually type it in, but she would ask a manager. As she was using her radio to ask, the woman that was greeting people at the door kept snickering “no” out loud and over the radio. Immediately, her energy was cold, snippy, and rude.
She walked over and told me if I could sign up for the Ulta credit card I would save 20% on my order. I told her that I do not want an Ulta credit, then she replied with “I’m just trying to get you a solution.”
The fact credit cards cannot be manually typed In is very inconvenient to the workers and the customers. Also employing rude, hostile employees is also an inconvenience.
We ended up taking some stuff off and I ultimately had to pay with cash. When I was leaving I told the cashier thank you, she didn’t hear me maybe, so I said it again louder. By then I could tell she was ignoring me. I said it a 3rd time and she replied with “bye” and when I walked past the greeter I told her to have a great day and her response was “goodbye”
I have worked with many professionals in Customer Experience, and they were the farthest from professional.

Read moreI'm a regular shopper at this location and most of the time I know what I am looking to purchase. I was greeted by someone (didn't get her name) and I asked if she can help me with match a Nars foundation. She shared that they don't offer it at that location so she recommended Urban Decay. She picked a foundation and when she handed me the test bottle, she shared testing was not allowed. So I had to look in the mirror and hold the bottle next to me, which wasnt the issue. I took my mask off on ear, to show that I have an uneven skin tone. I was telling the associate something (don't remember) While putting the mask back on my face with the test bottle in my hand, someone named DAVID walks by and all he says it "can you put your mask on", I said yes. He takes two steps forward and two steps back and says can you put it on now, while the other end of the mask is in my hand and I'm trying to finish up or ask my final question to the associate. I want to share that David was rude! I understand the protocols of Covid, I am an essential worker, but how can you demand me to put my mask on when you see me trying to in mid conversation. The foundations cannot be tested so I wanted to double check before I purchased a foundation I didn't come in for. I worked in customer service for 10 years before becoming an essential worker and there needs to be some type of Customer Service training in place for managers and associates for approaching customers with their policies. No questions were asked, only assumptions made that I want to be in the store...
