I hate to leave a negative review, but the service here was so remarkably poor, and most of the food so middling, that I had to share my experience with others who might be misled by the nice looking interior or (suspiciously?) positive reviews.
This is attached to the movie theater next door - that’s fine, though the chic atmosphere (with attendant prices) they’re going for is undercut by staff in Look Cinema shirts.
We almost didn’t enter because it was so empty the night we went, but the reviews were positive, we decided to try it, and we found there were three other tables with patrons seated. Despite their being empty, we waited for someone to notice us and seat us, we waited for someone to take our order, and we waited … and waited … and waited … for our food. After a seriously long while, I asked about the chips, salsa, and guacamole that we’d ordered to start; I don’t like to give servers a hard time, but my daughter was hungry, it had been 20+ minutes, they were empty, and the app order doesn’t require cooking. The server came back after a while with chips and guacamole. That’s a start! But unfortunately only 2/3 of the incredibly simple order we’ve now been waiting 30+ minutes for. She then came back with a laughably small cup of very spicy (but tasty) salsa. Definitely not a good value for $14, in my opinion.
We then waited for too long, again, for our entrees, but on the bright side, they brought my daughter’s chicken fingers out first, and they were remarkably good (my wife and I both tried some because we were hungry and bored waiting for our dinners). Our entrees, when they finally came out, were fine (just fine - at best). We never got any apology or acknowledgment that they were not doing a good job serving us (despite, again, the place being at ~5% capacity).
The server then disappeared again, and we had to ask one of her coworkers to find her and ask for the check. We left bewildered at how a place that looked so nice, charged as much as they do, and had such good reviews could have given us such a bad experience.
This place is probably fine if you want to get drinks with friends in an attractive, slightly “nice” space. But I would otherwise stay away if you’re expecting good food and hospitality, I’m...
Read moreThis is a new restaurant (according to other reviews, it seems like they have been open a couple of weeks), and we went for a preview brunch weekend. The menu for brunch was limited (maybe 8 items). We ordered huevos rancheros which were very good. Also ordered the French scramble and the bread pudding. These were both okay - there was nothing special about the French scramble (kinda basic/not much seasoning) and the bread pudding apparently had chunks of banana that did not taste like banana. The orange juices we ordered were very small in terms of portion size (if i had to hazard a guess.... maybe 4-6 ounces). A large part of the kitchen is open to the restaurant, which I like, but you could then also see that the kitchen staff did not seem to be wearing hair nets etc. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive, the restaurant itself was spacious, well laid out and nicely decorated. It is attached to the Look Cinema. There is free parking in a couple of different lots close by. I am hoping that they expand all menus as they all seemed quite limited. I do sincerely wish the...
Read moreI was looking forward to celebrating my friend’s birthday and was interested in trying, for the first time, Mirabella Cocina. We went in at 5:30 to a restaurant that was basically empty. We were seated immediately however after 10 minutes, no one ever came to bring us water, bread, nothing, and what made matters worse was that we were seated at a table next to people who had dogs in the restaurant. One dog was large and on the floor, and the other one was small and in the man’s lap. Number one, I am allergic to dogs and no one ever asked, and number two, who allows pets inside a restaurant? There was outdoor seating, which was empty and would be more of an appropriate place to seat people who want to bring their pets to a restaurant. Needles to say, we got up and left. Two thumbs down for...
