Indeed a work of art that brings both history and architecture together spiritually in the Gothic Revival style. This Cathedral underwent a significant renovation and has managed to merge the old and the new. They make a concerted effort to involve membership and invite you to enjoy this magnificent edifice. They have events open to the public, and you can sit comfortably as you listen. Services are held regularly including a Blessing of the Animals that draws a large crowd. They have accomplished Choirs and rival those one imagines you'd see in Europe or at a famous concert hall. On the expansive grounds, they hold a Memorial Day Fair and Craft Show. Weather permitting, this is a delightful way to enjoy and spend the afternoon. Even if you are not Episcopal, all are welcome to participate here and visit. Read moreI just wanna say I can’t comment at all on the level of their religiousness and the quality of how they dish it out their sermons… it is a magnificent structure and I used it as a back drop for pictures for my motorcycle. What I can say is they were all super friendly and A OK with me being on the property, moving my bike all around the building and taking lots of pictures. I was respectful of the fact that a service was going on so I did nut run the engine. People who were worshipping there and some that actually worked there were all smiles and seem to have no problem at all with my little photo shoot… so I give them a 👍 for sure for their pro bike attitude… I guess after being there… and if I had the inclination to become religious I suppose I would be Episcopalian … they seem really nice and down...
Read moreRight up there with Saint Patrick's Cathedral and The Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine. This place is spotless. The grounds are huge. Took pictures of almost everything in the building. The wrought iron spiral stair cases are beautiful. Coming back to experience a mass here. Weddings are like are a storybook affair here. The organ, the Altar, the stain glass windows. Downstairs is a couple of display cases with religious artifacts. Historically known for its music ministry. Originally the train station was installed to transport the members of its Men & Boys choir from Brooklyn and Manhattan for services and rehearsals. A new organ was installed in 1986. Cornelia Stewart and her husband Alexander T. Stewart are buried below the basement altar. Step downstairs...
