Taku Asian Bistro restaurant — Restaurant in Town of Hempstead

I discovered Taku this afternoon ( it was recommended by a volunteer working at Garden City Library ) , after a long , busy weekend , and what a surprisingly pleasant discovery it was ! I know of no small restaurant this cozy , well designed , immaculate and attractive ; the owners have made the most of a long , narrow interior . Country music also provided a relaxing change from the blaring contemporary pop chosen by so many establishments today . Prices are very reasonable , and my shrimp and chicken with peanut sauce was delicious . This dish came with a generous portion of vegetables mixed in , making for a genuinely complete dinner . The charming owner and waitresses , all from Fujian , China, were exceptionally polite , attentive and cordial ; other restaurateurs could learn much from a visit to Taku . Did I leave...

I’ve been here 2 times for dine in and 4 times for takeout. All times my experience was neither bad or good. Just regular customer service. Today I placed in order over the phone. I walked in to pay for my order once I got to the cash register I stated what I was picking up and she replied. Do you have cash? I said no, and she directly said afterwards, next time, bring cash. She stated usually if a bill is less than 15$ they won’t do it. This was never told to me and I think deliver upon that request could’ve been nicer. Me and my friends usually walk to this location because it’s very close to where we live, but will now go out of our way to find a place with better customer service. They are one of the best sushi restaurants I have ever been to!! We dined inside and the vibe was really cozy and peaceful. They have plenty of outdoor dining space and there’s a huge parking lot in the back. We ordered hibachi steak, chicken ramen, 100A roll, and Adelphi roll. Hibachi steak and ramen were alright, not too bad and nothing extraordinary. Ramen just felt like regular noodles to me. Sushi on the other hand was the best!! Totally loved it! I would definitely love to try the other rolls on their menu. Staff was super friendly and the service was quick. Their prices are also reasonable according to the portions.
