What should have been a magical day for my aunt (her wedding day) turned into a horror show. My aunt had her hair done at this establishment for her wedding. As the rest of us were upstairs getting ready in the hotel room (Garden City Hotel) I received a phone call from my aunt sobbing. I couldn't make out what she was saying other than "burn" and "face". Once we met with her at the elevator we realized she had been burned by the curling iron. There was a white paper towel covering the burn and they had swept her bangs in a manner to hide the burn as well. I had to peel the paper towel off the burn to see how bad it was Pics are included I stayed with my aunt to try to calm her down and to file an incident report. The staff at this spa did NOT handle this situation well at all! Firstly, the hair stylist placed an ointment on the burn and then the paper towel. The paramedic we called to look at her burn said that is the WORSE thing you can do and she should have known that. His words, not ours. Secondly, the staff was originally trying to just discount her service. Once my aunt refused reiterating that they burned her face on her wedding day and crying they didn't charge her for the service and acted as if they were doing her a huge favor. I decided not to interact with them when I saw how unprofessional they were responding to my cousins and just kept claiming the manager was in a "meeting". The staff was crowding around the front desk, being argumentative and had smirks on their faces (which is why I decided not to even engage with them and went back upstairs to speak with the hotel manager.) It was very clear to me as i stood back and observed that they couldn't have cared less. If this had happened to one of them on their big day I'm positive their day would've been ruined but sadly many people only care about themselves and this spa was the perfect example of that. Gary who doesn't work for this spa but for the hotel was amazing at handling the situation, he should go down there and train them. We ended up taking matters into our own hands and filing a police report as well as requesting a paramedic to treat her burn. I don't post negative reviews unless I feel it's absolutely necessary to warn others of potential bad service. I don't need a response from the "manager" you should've handled this situation in real-time not now through a Google review. Good luck to anyone who goes there wanting a relaxing day feeling special and pampered. You've...
Read moreOh boy, here we go. I’ll start with the massage. The therapist was a sweet man, clearly trying hard but I wouldn’t have been surprised if they told me he was just a guy off the street with no experience. He demonstrated ZERO technique. I’ve had better massages for $5 in Thailand. I think I could literally have done a better job and I’m not any good at massages. He seemed lost, just rubbing randomly and not getting into any muscle groups. He forgot to do both sides of my shoulders but I didn’t correct him because I just wanted it to be over. He doused me in a bucket of oil. Nobody needs that much oil. I could have slid all the way home on my butt with the amount of oil slathered on there. It was, without question, the worst massage of my life. Bar none. And, to top it off, at the end he whispered at me about 6 inches from my face although I could not understand what he said. It was creepy and almost sensual. Truly a horrific and uncomfortable massage. I did not enjoy one minute of it.
Moving on. The sheets all had stains on them. Red lipstick colored stains, black mascara stains, brown who-knows-what stains. The towels are scratchy and uncomfortable. All the tiny little trashes were full. Buy bigger trash cans! Why would you have these little 12 inch trash cans throughout the spa? I know it’s a small point but it all adds up.
Then there the general atmosphere. This place leaves a lot to be desired for the amount you pay. I mean there’s a very tiny locker room and then a small lounge with maybe 10 chairs. No steam room, sauna, hot tub. I don’t know how they justify these prices, you do not get what you pay for. You can order food but there’s no tables or trays to set it up on so you’re just juggling plates and glasses. It’s honestly so poorly thought out it’s silly.
All in all, this was an incredibly disappointing spa experience and I left more tense than when I arrived. I will not return. They need to hire experienced massage therapists, I can’t believe that man is massaging people professionally. I should’ve said something when I was there but I was with my mother and she didn’t want to make a fuss. I even tipped the guy but I feel he should’ve paid me for...
Read moreI was SOO disappointed in this experience!!! This is an extremely expensive day spa and not at all worth the price. I was scheduled for a 50 minute massage and an Ageless facial. As a day spa with a description of a sauna and a lounge I was anticipating a place I could relax for some time before my treatments. The woman at the front desk said that we could come early and enjoy tea and snacks. When my friend and I arrived we were shown back to the changing room and immediately 3 other women were also trying to all change and access robes and lockers in a very cramped area. No one showed us where the sauna was. We changed and moved to the lounge where there were some cheezits, cucumber water, and tea bags. There was no hot water to make the tea with. We sat in the lounge and it quickly filled with 8 other robed clients trying to relax in an uncomfortably small space. When I went to my massage, my therapist asked about my problem areas and tried very hard to upsell me on other products and add-ons, but then proceeded with a very odd massage that didn’t focus on one of my stated problem areas and included weird poses where she knelt behind me and had me flap my arms. The room had a temporary wall and I could hear the client and therapist in the adjacent room. My massage did not last the full 50 minutes. My facial was even worse. Although my aesthetician was a lovely person, she did immediately recommend a different, more expensive facial with several add-on services, increasing my price while decreasing my actual time. The facial created a significant sensitive skin reaction. The aesthetician was very concerned and wiped the product off and applied cooling ice balls. However, I was still charged in full and there was no check in with management or consolation.
I have never left a massage and facial less relaxed than I was going in. All in all I am so disappointed and...
