I’m quite honestly shocked that this place isn’t rated better on Google, it should be 5 stars hands down. We have been here multiple times and came this evening to celebrate a birthday. First off, the Garden City Hotel is in a class of its own and you can tell that they invest in keeping it up to date and stunning - the furniture in the lobby was all new and the hotel in pristine condition. Red Salt Room was truly an experience. The ambiance is beautiful and it appears they have updated some of the seating and furniture in the space to keep it feeling new and high-end which I appreciate.
The menu is definitely pricey but the selection robust and they also note Gluten Free items which I appreciate. We started with the octopus and watermelon feta salad which were both exceptional. I ordered the salmon which was fantastic, and my husband got the Iberico pork which was out of this world. The food is incredibly flavorful, gourmet, fresh and unique.
I don’t drink but was able to get a glass of non-alcoholic wine from Wolffer Estates here and it was such a treat that they serve this and other NA beverages. But what really stands out here is the service - it’s simply unmatched. A level I have never experienced before. JC and Jose especially were not only kind and attentive, but also made us feel at home from the second we walked in. We had two children (one toddler and one infant) with us and the second we walked in they brought out toys and coloring items for the kids, beverages for the kids in appropriate kids cups, kids menus, the works. They made me feel so comfortable and welcome with our children. And they even brought a hand-written birthday note which was a real treat.
Overall such a wonderful experience and absolutely worth it, especially if you are celebrating someone or something special and are looking for world-class...
Read moreThis place is a gem. Everyone in Nassau County knows that the Garden City Hotel is just a beautiful venue, but with the addition of Chef David Burke’s touch on the eats it has been elevated to a foodie’s destination. I only experienced the King’s Bar for pre-dinner drinks and The Red Salt Room for dinner and dessert. Used OpenTable to make reservations which did not look like it was necessary mid week but would probably be a must on weekends. Everyone at the host/hostess stands were beyond sweet, interested in helping you. Felt welcomed for sure. The Snozzberry Martini is a must. Thank you for the recommendation at the King’s Bar! Dinner at The Red Salt Room was just a great experience as well! The menu is limited to some really interesting choices. Our server was so awesome - she gave us some excellent descriptions, recommendations for each course, even wine pairing by the glass as they don’t have a sommelier (I don’t think they do wines by the bottle either) but that’s ok! I have to go back because there are other items on the menu that I just have to try! Perfect for special occasions (we did birthday) and a special night out (date night). Foodie paradise. The flavor of chef’s aged steaks are unparalleled in Nassau County and we’ve hit up most big name/highly recommended steakhouses. Something different, so I can understand why the prices are what they are - worth every penny. Try the Surf and Turf Dumplings. I’m going back for the Candied bacon appetizer - so creative and smelled amazing! We never felt rushed and the food came at a perfect pace for us. From seating to check we were there for 2.5 hours and enjoyed every minute. Thank you to everyone for a great experience! Highly...
Read moreCelebrated a birthday for family tonight. A fun festive atmosphere that might be a little loud for some folks but makes for a lively time. Drinks wise: Cocktails are well made. Negroni is exactly textbook and was very good. The wine list is a fairly standard 3 to 4x mark up but a little uninspired.
Food: The appetizers are definitely the hits. The crab cake is solid crab with great big lump pieces and perfectly crunchy on the outside and sweet juicy crab on the inside. The dumplings on a stick are also fantastically fun to eat. Entrees wise we got the cacio pepe, the 40oz porterhouse, 20 Oz rib eye, salmon, risotto and the duck. The duck was clearly the stand out. The rest of the dishes were also very good however everything came out almost cold. The cheese and cream based sauces started to firm up. If the dish Temps were hot the food would have been excellent.
Service was efficient and unassuming. Water was always filled and the wait staff were friendly.l but no expectations for anything above and beyond.
Dessert for me was definitely the star. The blue Jay dessert was stunning, inspired, fun to eat and delicious. The chocolate mouse cake was decadent and rich and well paired with the banana ice cream. The dream cloud was fluffy, fun to eat and really captures the fun and tasty playfulness matching the other dessert dishes.
I'd probably lean closer to a 3.5 but could have easily went to a 4.5 for the food The ingredients are definitely top notch but the cold, Luke warm temperatures of the entrees when they came out were really the main negative.
My main recs are the awesomely fat and juicy duck breast. The crunchy and succulent crab cakes and desserts...
