I was excited and looking forward to this with my brother and best friend for my birthday coming up.
I got stuck on the obstacle course on 9/14/24 with my friend. Then I got very dizzy due to staff having to do the course to help me, I thought it was crazy. I felt very dizzy after trying to continue due to it being rough for me to get down. The manager told me it was 3 to 4 more obstacles.
Maya the manager had a very terrible attitude, thought she seemed at first to be helpful but her piss poor attitude and aggressiveness after I got down wasn’t helpful. The staff that helped me amazing. But I just asked Maya since they cut my line if I would get refunded for the Zip Lining. She immediately shut me down cause she thought I wanted a refund from the obstacle course. When I went back to the front to speak to her she acted as if she couldn’t further assist me. So I asked who can I speak to over her as I just went through a traumatic experience and she wasn’t very understanding nor listening. She gave me a card and a free pass after a white man walked up and heard our conversation. Then finally refunded me and before and asked did I want to be harnessed again. I felt that it was wrong that she treated me differently before the man walked up. It was just disrespectful all around.
I shouldn’t have to change my tone to ask for assistance and to be accommodated properly and I did not like how she treated us as group when I got stuck on the line.
The obstacle course needs to be looked out for the first zip line it’s not safe for people trying it for the first time. Also the ladders nearby should be an opportunity to let people leave the course if uncomfortable. The obstacle course level of extreme is way more extreme than it advertised. Providing gloves to participants doing the obstacle courses should be a must. My hands and arms gave in due to the line being very tight to handle. I was capable of doing the obstacle course despite my weight as I workout but it should tell people more information. I won’t be...
Read moreI went to WildPlay on a school trip with 8th graders. I am a teacher. I enjoy ropes courses and zip lines very much, and the kids enjoyed it a lot too. However, as a 5’0” ft tall woman, the harness wasn’t properly accommodated for my height. The cord that held the zip line hook was too short, making it difficult for me to feel safe coming onto and off the zip line. When I wasn’t able to come off the zip line properly because I wasn’t able to reach unhooking it fully, the instruction the staff were giving me did not help me feel safe, especially when I wasn’t wearing a helmet either. I was not listened to when I said I needed support, and took awhile for me to receive support. Then, when going onto another zip line, I legit couldn’t get onto it at all, there was no stool, nor a staff member in sight. Once again, the instruction I was given when a staff member was there was to climb onto a colleague’s knee or going very close to the edge. That did NOT help me feel safe AT ALL. When telling the leader I was not comfortable, there seemed to be a disconnect in understanding that it’s not that I didn’t want to do the zip line, I just couldn’t actually do it! It wasn’t possible, nor safe. Any wrong move on my part, I could’ve fallen, sliding down the zip line improperly, and that is definitely not worth risking. And it was a back and forth that felt inconsiderate. Finally, I was rescued and brought down, so ultimately they REALLY need to adjust harnesses so EVERYONE can feel safe, and measure people’s heights before starting the course to know whether someone may need an accommodation because for kids and adults who may be doing this for the first time, there still is a lot of liability that can happen. As someone who had to advocate for her safety, yeahhhhh that needs to be checked out,...
Read moreIf your child is over 10 years old don't do the kids course. Granddaughter 13 kept her sister company on the kids course. I ask the staff member if it was something she would enjoy too. He said yes. The 8 year old was too short for the classic, you have to be 4 feet 8 inches or 5 years old. How many 5 year olds are that tall. The 13 year old hit her head several times and got cuts from the wires, plus the course was too easy and boring. She came off crying saying she should have done the classic. The younger one said it was too easy also. Then they went to the zip line. They were sent away because it was too windy. Went to get money back and the staff member said it wasn't and sent them back. Even called ahead they were coming. When they arrived back to zip line there was no one there. Came back to desk again. Spoke to manager. Not helpful one bit. Just said the courses don't run continuously. Refunded the zip line. Told him about 13 year old being too old and tall and in tears. He said he would check out the spots she got hurt at. But she never showed him those spots. Not enough staff, the staff they have are not helpful, and do not communicate with each other. Managers answers was scripted. I do have to add that this was the 3rd time we had been to wild play with the 13 year old. She went alone at 10 and 11 years old. Completed the classic and the extreme course with no help offered by staff. Other participants helped through the rough patches. It's a fun time, but don't expect help or clarity from staff. Or cooperation from manager. To add to it my husband 75 with pacemaker was running back and forth at the WildPlay because no one was around to help and kept getting missinformation. They should have refunded everything. Or given a credit to come...
