Ok, I am a West Point graduate. West Point is a great place to visit (but you might not want to go to school there lol...when you graduate, you are an Army Officer!)

As a tourist attraction, there is much to see.

West Point is significant for many reasons.

Historically, West Point was described by George Washington as the most significant strategic location in North America, and it was chosen as the location to stop the British from splitting the colonies, by stopping British ships from navigating up and down the Hudson River.

A chain was stretched across the Hudson. You can see a section of the chain when you visit trophy point. Also captured cannons from many wars.

In the fall, watch the cadets march on, "the Plain", best time is prior to home Football games, Cadets march at 9AM. Football games are typically at 12 noon at Michie Stadium.

Also there is an extensive collection at the West Point and Army museum.
