I wasn't sure what to expect and ended up being very impressed! Rooms, available for civilians and military, have a living room (sofa, armchair, table and chairs, a few side tables, TV and DVD player with functioning remotes, closet space), a kitchen (with a small stove, full-size fridge, microwave, pots and pans, dish soap, paper towels, silverware, pod coffee maker, etc), a bathroom, and a bedroom (2 closets with ample space, awkward drawers, even another TV)! Yes, you read right, 1 room is like 4 small rooms. And a great view of the Hudson! I knew of people staying at the Thayer paying more than double for half as much (or less... some did not even have a microwave in the room).
Breakfast is included. Presently they're renovating the hot breakfast area. The temporary situation is asking the front desk staff for cold or room temp stuff (e.g., coffee, juice, cereal and milk, bagels and cream cheese, even gluten-free Bob's Red Mill Oatmeal cups--my gluten-free self has never been able to eat heartily at a cold breakfast hotel before, so major kudos for including this). Seems you can ask for relatively limitless amounts and they'll provide it to you in a paper bag with plastic silverware if you'd like.
Other things to note: there's a train feels like every 30min even overnight so bring earplugs; rooms surprisingly have window AC/heat units (I visited in October, which is pretty temperate, but kept nicely warm for 45F nights) and some walls have old school-looking wall radiators; pulling into the parking lot might be intimidating the first time--know that you have to present your IDs to the guard (everytime you return, too) and they will let you through the chained roadblock, lol; you can walk from the Hotel to the Westpoint visitors center and Westpoint museum; you are maybe a 3min drive from the entrance to the Westpoint campus (everything is very close); there's a Farmers Market just on the other side of the main road on Sundays (idk seasonality).
Fyi, we did use the kitchen. The stove is small and a bit tricky but the pots and pans worked great! It'd be nice if the hotel provided a small olive oil and/or salt'n'peppa for cooking but we made due with tiny butters from breakfast and bought a cajun spice mix which...

Be prepared to carry luggage up flights of stairs.||In the room, hvac fan was very loud. Then the wi-fi Internet wasn't working. Called front desk and was told that was a common problem, but They had no solution. They had to call the manager to find out how to get tech support. After several phone calls, they got service provider to call me. However, After telling me to reboot my computer (despite there being no connection on any of my devices), the tech support simply hung up while I was rebooting. They never called back. I Couldn't use my phone or Hotspot due to poor cell coverage for anyone who didn't use Verizon. ||Went to take a shower. Discovered there was no temperature control - only scalding hot water. Called front desk (twice) to report the problem - could not get any answer). ||Poorly maintained, poorly managed facility.
