Although we do go to the Elwood Quad sometimes today we went to go see the movie Sing and so we called to see if it was sold out and they said that it is open. We asked if we could buy our tickets online and they said no. Which is one bad thing about the Elwood Quad. They told us we have to buy our tickets in person at the theater, which was whatever, so we drove the the place and waited on line for nearly an hour. Now the Elwood Quad ALWAYS takes credit cards. So after waiting on an absurdly long line we finally got to the front. When we were AT THE DOOR they then told us that the machines were down and that you had to pay cash. Now during the 45 minutes we waited on line we could have run to the ATM. But they never told us that. Not to mention that when we got to the front of the line and we tried to buy our tickets they told us that there was only 3 tickets left. Now if they had any common sense whatsoever the Manager would've walked down the line and told the people that we were running out of tickets when there was only about 20 left. And the manager did not go out to tell the people that the movie was sold out until over 15 minutes after it was sold out. So we are now going to another theater where you can buy tickets online and is way better managed if you are thinking about going to the Elwood Quad I would recommend going to AMC theaters or Regal theaters.
Ps the Elwood Quads seats are uncomfortable and dirty and I'm not the only one...
Read moreObviously paying Google to highlight good reviews. Lame. Everyone says "the theater has plenty of seats," that is because this theater sucks and no one goes there. The managers are very rude and act like security guards in cheap suits to the point that it is offensive and distracts from the movie(I am an adult, mature, quiet, good natured customer). I would have left if I had not already bought my ticket. They look you all over, check your stub on the way to the restroom, and although they interrupt the movie to check the theater, don't stop teenagers from talking. The general staff seemed helpful and that they understood their manager was on a power-trip. The seats are old and uncomfortable. I go to 10-15 movies in a year, and would rather go to a packed "amc maple ridge" or "walden galleria" theater any day, even the mckinley dollar theater has a more comfortable Seats and polite management. I went to see x-men apocalypse on opening/Memorial Day weekend and the parking lot was empty because no one wants to see a movie there. I work in marketing and know that if your theater is empty 36 hours after a blockbuster is released on Memorial Day weekend, it's not them, it's you. Prior to this I had gone to see "Selma" and assumed it was empty because the film is...
Read moreThis theater is like the theaters we had long ago; quaint, cozy, very friendly and helpful workers/owners, and prices as low as they were years ago.
They have a few movies playing on smaller screens than you see at the newer super-large chain theaters, and the seats are the old fashioned type but are still comfortable and a solid sound system.
Low keyed with special discounts and even lower prices on Tuesdays (Please confirm to make sure the discount day hasn't changed before going).
Surprisingly very enjoyable, especially if you are old enough to remember the good old days, or if you are young enough to not have the $20 to spend on the larger theaters but still want to see that great movie with...
