I have been coming here for 10 years, it’s our family tradition.
This year, prior to visiting we checked the website and saw the $10 entry fee noted which to be honest I thought meant they were trying to ensure more safety PPE protocol therefore needed to charge a fee to supplement that so I didn’t mind it. I was expecting change, we are in the middle of a pandemic so I was looking for those changes in admissions/times protocol etc.
When we arrived the parking lot was my first red flag, it was just as packed, if not more than prior years. Once we walked up the hill towards the main field I was shocked as to how many people were there. Now at this point I have a 3 year old who is super excited so we couldn’t turn around and go home.
We get on line and no one is social distancing. I stand 6ft behind the family in front of me but the family behind me is right on top of us. I look around to see if there are employees monitoring and only see one managing the line in the front.
We pay the fee, walk to the field because the line to get on the hayride was outrageous. As were approaching I notice that there’s a vast difference in the amount of pumpkins for picking. In years past you had to step around them but this year there were barely any, most in hearts for pictures but not many good picks at all.
We stayed for 25 minutes because of the large crowds and long lines and costs for the petting zoo. We then proceeded to the popcorn line for once again - zero social distancing and long lines.
What a disappointment after years of coming here. Please consider timed 90 minute entry slots for an all in cost and experience at the farm ahead of time online. That way people can feel safe and enjoy the beautiful farm.
It’s really sad to see so many people parading around in the middle of a pandemic - most doing it for kids of course but it’s disheartening to see the business not take precautions seriously. A few signs won’t do it - there needed to be employees monitoring and enforcing social distancing and definitely sanitizer - I didn’t see any of it today. And closing early to really reduce crowds. We’re all just trying to get out for a little fall fun but we are living in a pandemic and should take it more seriously.
Nearby farms are charging $35 and that kept me away for my family of three but in hind sight here you pay $10 to get in and then additional costs for the petting zoo, corn field, maze etc. - it adds up to be the same.
Next year I’ll keep an eye out on reviews, I guess this was my fault after all since I now see other writing the same thing I am. Beware, alert,...
Read moreWAY too expensive. My husband took us, our kids and our parents/family friend and just to get in, walk the corn maze and have some snacks was well over a $300 day. That's abhorrent to me. I don't care if we can afford it. It's the principle lol.
I'm from California and you literally NEVER pay to gain entry into a pumpkin patch lol.. You just pay for rides or your pumpkins.
Their pumpkins are very expensive but I find most pumpkin patch pumpkins are expensive.
I gave it a 3 because it is a nice pumpkin patch altogether and the playground area is cute but the price is crazy. The corn maze is GODAWFUL boring and SUPER unimpressive.. I thought there were cute places to take pictures and it's just barrels that show you you reached a new point. I didn't want to pay $10 to walk that but my husband insisted on giving his kids that experience.
Do NOT suggest.. They'll get tired and insanely bored and you won't even make it to the end lol.
Also, for the price this place charges, they should not just have portable potties (gags) but a real restroom. I will say, though, that these ones smelled nice so they dump some sort of odor control scent in them or something perhaps.
At the end of the day, while I find the pricing atrocious, I look around and see this place was STILL very busy... so it looks like they just CAN charge that much. I imagine if it were free, it would be unbearable to be in there and way too crowded to walk around or do anything.
Sucks but living in NYC, it seems your pumpkin patch experiences are limited and these guys are the few surrounding ones within a 45 minute drive are in demand and to keep the massive overcrowding from happening CAN charge this much.
I'd rather pay the same/a little more and make it a day vacation upstate or in PA next time. That's...
Read moreThere’s like a billion pumpkin places within an hour or two of NYC and I did a fair bit of research. I regret picking this one. From the start the vibe is just kinda off—it sits right next to a Chase bank and a big highway, not the sprawling wooded farmland I’d imagined. It just all felt sorta grim and lackluster from the minute I got there. Admission is $23, which is par for these places, but you get way less for the price than comparable places ( Harbes was another I looked at, and it looked so much better). This kinda just feels like a playground with a parking lot and a corn maize—not a lot of room to wander and explore, not a lot of decor or landscaping to look at besides the sunflower field. There’s some slides and stuff and a corn maze, but everything else is extra. It just sorta feels scammy and extremely phoned in—most egregiously, you gotta pay $5 for a WAGON to transport the pumpkins you BUY from them? You even have to give them your license as collateral, because apparently wagon theft runs rampant. You can’t throw that in for free? I bought like $100 worth of pumpkins dawg—yeah those aren’t cheap either. The food is surprisingly bad, just dry donuts and cold hot dogs and cold (they don’t have hot???) cider. The maze was complex and fun, and the roasted corn was good—those are my only pluses. Looks like admission used to be $15 last year and the corn maize was an additional $10, so they just baked it into the price to avoid complaints. Do yourself a favor and go to a different place, even if it’s a bit further drive. If this were like $5 I’d maaaaybe go for the convenience to Brooklyn, but I feel like my group paid $100 to basically do a maze, buy pumpkins, and eat a sad little hot dog on a metal bench....
