I cannot stress this enough… the General Manager, Walid, & how he runs this ship of his, is sincerely what makes all the difference. In. The. World. !! You can run a tight ship through fear & punishment, but not Walid. He leads by example, & does everything with pride in his heart that shows in every action he takes & every word he speaks. This type of leadership is infectious, & is reflected in his team members, too. He has the ability to adapt to all sorts of situations with grace, & always sees the best in what his team has to offer. He is a rare gem, & the biggest asset of this hotel, by far. You truly feel like a VIP with his influence here!
I’ve stayed at this hotel many times over the past 5 years, & during that time, have had the pleasure of interacting with so many great team members here.
Jose & Alonzo, who take care of taking the orders & delivering Fresh Bites, are amazing with their customer service. They are always polite, extremely friendly, remember the things you usually order (who has the ability to remember that?!? Jose does, that’s who!), get your food to you quickly, & recognize special guests & take care of their special requests, all the time. They’re amazing!
Patrick in the Concierge Lounge likes to give 200% of himself, & makes sure I get my sweets before bed, & that the lounge is always in tip top shape.
Sana at the front desk likes to be thorough with making sure all is good with your room, & will immediately try to remedy anything that may be out of place.
Natalie, one of the servers in the restaurant, is a terrific. She knows her menu, is great with making sure all is OK throughout your meal, is respectful, personable, confident & spot on with her recommendations.
Floyd in security saved me from having to walk all the way back down to the lobby when my hotel keys weren’t working. After a long day at the office, this was a nice little bonus to not have to worry about.
Ashley in group reservations was able to help me out of several jams I had with securing a room. She responded quickly & followed up nicely.
Clearly, with so many different people in so many different parts of the hotel providing exceptional service, credit has to be given where credit is due, & it’s due to Walid’s ability to encourage, excite, & inspire his team members to be the best they can be, for all the right reasons. If you stay at the Melville Marriott, you’ll experience for yourself the outstanding level of service...
Read moreChecking in with Kevin was very pleasant but when i walked into my original room and my guest and I needed to take showers I observed that the shower still had used bars of soap and used shampoo inside. The only thing changed was new toiletries on the sink. It was clear housekeeping never cleaned the shower and management never properly did their final walk through. I Immediately called Kevin at the front desk who attempted to send housekeeping but they arrived a period of time later with only towels. No cleaning cart, supplies nothing just towels which I never asked for. Called Kevin one again who kept apologizing and attempted to move my room and upgrade me but once I walked into my new room I honestly did not care for the Junior suite and the layout was just awkward. I told Kevin I appreciated his attempt but I just prefer a King bed regular room which I ended up in room 3111. I also told him to have the manager call me which I never did receive that call. We left the hotel, came back hours later went to sleep shortly after midnight to be woken up to the guests directly across in room 3102 and 3104 who apparently checked in late and had rooms next to one another. They kept walking back and forth to each others rooms and I had hear the doors opening and closing until they actually propped open the doors with their suitcases and were in the hallways back and forth talking and complaining. This went on till about 2:45am. We finally fell back to sleep just to be woken up at 3:30am to intoxicated guests arguing in the hallway for the next hour who were staying in the rooms along side of us. I believe we fell asleep shortly after 5am just to be woken up to the same guests in 3102 and 3104 with the same routine which I assumed they were now leaving at 7am. Once I checked out Kevin apologized about the bathroom situation again and even though Marriott can not control the other guests behavior I told him what I had experienced and had no sleep whatsoever. He actually confirmed that the people in 3102 and 3104 had airline flight issues and did check in late but obviously had no idea about their rude behavior to the other guests. Reminded him if my original room was cleaned and inspected properly this all could have been avoided. Also never did receive that call from the Hotel manager during my stay or even...
Read moreFirst I want to preface by saying overall the hotel staff were all accommodating and professional. I am a Marriott Bonvoy member and have been one for many years. My wife and I plus a group of friends had booked several rooms for the weekend to celebrate someone's birthday. We went to a local restaurant to celebrate and have dinner. Upon our return we went to the lobby and gathered at the lounge area restaurant. At least over 400 dollars in food and drink was order and we settled in to continue the celebration. Now I don't drink but a couple of people from the group brought alcohol they had purchased earlier. A young lady who I believe name was Lauren and was the restaurant manager came over and stated personal alcohol was not allowed, which was not a problem to correct. She became very aggressive in her behavior and was very condescending in her attitude. One person immediately removed a bottle and she asked about a second bottle less than a quarter filled and I stated it was not mine. She immediately snatched up the bottle the whole time being very argumentative about alcohol not being allowed and stormed off. Her attitude was extremely dismissive and condescending. When the owner of the alcohol followed her to the desk to resolve the issue she call 911, claiming she felt threatened. At no time did anyone speak to her other than respectfully and upon their arrival the police also could not understand why they were called. Simply stating alcohol was not allowed and letting the owner of the bottle return it to their room would have been a much better way of handling the situation. I was truly shocked by the level of arrogance she showed and even other staff stated she went way overboard in how she handled the situation. She spoiled whas was a great night of celebration and made myself and the rest of my group reconsider using this hotel again. As an aside, I have stayed at this hotel on previous occasions with no incidence. Unfortunately hospitality was not on display during this stay. The police apologized and left but I feel that someone should make Lauren aware of what profession she is in and guests should always be treated with a certain...
