West Shore Marina — Attraction in Town of Huntington

Terrible experience with this place and more specifically the owner, head mechanic and staff. We are a young family with two young kids and expected West Shore to be a happy welcoming place to spend summers on the boat and in the pool. Unfortunately that was not the case. Most notably, the staff is incredibly cold, rude and unhelpful. I had awful experiences with the head mechanic, an older condescending miserable man who berated my wife and couldn’t figure out simple mechanical issues with my boat causing me to have to bring in outside technicians simply to jump a battery which he said was not the issue. The owner is probably the most unprofessional person I’ve ever dealt with. Beyond the staff, the facilities are bare bones with no restaurant, bar and very few amenities. The pool sits along a loud busy road and is fine but nothing special and no bathrooms or food. Prices are pretty high as well so you’re paying top dollar ($5-7K) for a 20 foot boat with winterizing/storage. There are many better options...

I take exception to Mr. contino`s review. first off, no marinas have dock hands on call after dark. with 5 adults on board you should be able to dock your boat. second, the security Guard was there, doing rounds and watching the gate to keep tresspassers away. What he gets paid to do. third, the marina has been managed By Jennifer Gould for the last 35 years!! The marina is clean safe and well managed. Seems to me that Mr. Contino thinks he is entitled to more than his fellow boaters. be careful Mr. Contino or you will find there is no place for you to go. The floating docks are the best in huntington. Good security. A well stocked chandlery. Clean bathrooms. The previous yard manager was as cranky as they come, but the new yard manager, Mike, is such a nice man and lends his interpersonal skills and knowledge to his job. I found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. Jen was marvelous. To all those people complaining about prices, Huntington is not a cheap place. Plain and simple. You dont go to Monaco looking for burger...
