I’m not sure if it is a daycare or a after school program, but there is some sort of child care program in the “library“. This creates a noise level that is unbelievable. There’s kids running all over inside the “library”, and there is a group preteen children that sit in the lobby heckling patrons as they enter and leave. The staff seems friendly and helpful, but they don’t seem to be bothered by the noise level. I seem to remember my high school library being run better. Also, every time someone enters or leaves the “library” the door slams shut, this creates a jarring sound that echoes throughout the entire space. I’m not sure how anyone can concentrate in the “library”. Although I do not believe that concentration is a goal if this “library” seeing how there is a daycare run out...
Read moreSo before i complain i do like the cleanliness of the place and the tables and chairs are comfortable but I always thought “ Libraries” were supposed to be quiet. I can concentrate better at Dunkin’ Donuts. I’ve been coming here to study and do homework but i have a hard time concentrating when there’s 6 different conversations going on and i can hear everything loud and clear. I don’t wanna be “that person” but i wish they would tell people to shut the hell up or at least whisper. I don’t care about your sons soccer game or that you just bought a new car. Read moreWe have used the Highland Public Library since it was in its old location, and not only is it a wonderful place to take kids, they have a teen room, they haven't conference rooms you can use for tutoring or meetings, as well as they have started a food pantry in their lobby. Further proof that libraries are needed more now than ever! Everyone that works there is accommodating, kind and amazing. I know without the support of the library, my son wouldn't be nearly as successful as he is, entering 11th grade this fall. Thank you to all who give us your time...
