Unfortunately I didn't have a great experience. To charge $90 to restring and wipe down a guitar is quite ridiculous. And to do so while asking repeatedly after I said no if I want lessons is also ridiculous. Dennis took advantage of an impoverished single mom with two young kids who just wanted her guitar restrung. I was lucky enough to have a kind friend pay for this overpriced service. I expected my guitar to look new. It was wiped down quick at best and also not ready on time. I picked it up a few hours after he said it was not ready, meaning it was a $75 service job with $7 strings plus tax that he probably spent not even 10 mins on. I have found out since that this place withholds instruments that are being "repaired" for months. I'm sad that I gave this man my friend's money. I should've ordered $7 strings online and took it to anyone who knows how to restring a guitar. It wasn't even properly cleaned and it was out of tune when I picked it up. These other reviews I'm guessing are by Dennis' friends or people who don't know any better. This place is overpriced. Dennis was rude from the very first phone call as well. Dennis- I am a musician, a singer, songwriter and I definitely don't want lessons from you. My father got me a gift certificate for lessons there when I was 16. It went unused and I'm glad it did. This place is good if you need a clarinet reed for your 7th grader last minute....
Read moreThis store is a real asset to our area. My son recently began learning guitar so I decided to dust off an old guitar I had bought decades ago only to then put on the shelf. It needed professional attention to bring it back to life. I left it in Dennis' care and he did a great job bringing back without punishing my wallet. We've been into Jacobs Music Center numerous times recently and Dennis and his staff have been excellent every time. Today he took time to fire up an electric guitar just so my 6 year old son could get a thrill. This kind of customer care is what sets Jacobs apart from the mega stores. Support your local business. This is what...
Read moreHad a chance meeting with owner Dennis Jacobs this past summer, so when I needed my Ukulele restrung, I decided to opt out of the demeaning chain music center & go see Dennis. Best move I made! His little shop in the corner was jammed packed with all kinds of instruments & equipment. He took the time to personally restring my uke while I waited. I had also brought in a new uke I bought for my granddaughter & asked him to tighten the keys which he did at no charge. His prices were affordable and his smile while he played my ukulele was priceless. I highly recommend going there. I know...
