UPDATE: DO NOT USE THIS FIREPLACE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS IT IS A SCAM WHICH I HAVE REPORTED The owners response was very professional as you can see below... I am here with my husband now and this is laughable. My husband said the owner said I was "stupid to call" them for my fireplace not working. So yes... I was stupid to call this company for an issue my husband was able to fix on his own... meanwhile I did not know I would have gotten scanned by this company.
Like many others, I feel like I was scammed and profiled for the area I live in. I haven't used my gas fireplace in over a year and simply wanted it to be checked out for safety reasons. Ron came with his helper (who wreaked like cigarettes- I had to open windows and spray febreeze after they left) and after 10 minutes of looking at my fireplace (didn't even try to turn it on with the remote etc) said I needed a whole new pilot module system in order to have the fireplace work. They say it's 250$ for the first service call and wanted a deposit from me for the part. So charging me 700$ this time and another 300+$ the next time of install (cash or check only btw wrote out to a Blackman Wood Stoves- the invoice I was handed read "Basic Energy Fireplace Equipment Corp" 500 Jericho Turnpike- Suite 4 Mineola NY 11501). I wrote up a check and trusted his honesty. He seems to be a good person while lying to you. After they left I looked up the part and it's much cheaper than I was told around 220$. My husband came home- luckily he is an electrician by trade and he opened up the fireplace and let me know the batteries were dead and needed to be changed and another piece of the system was simply unplugged. My husband turned the fireplace on and it worked! I was lied to and they tried to scam me. Thankfully we were able to figure out the issue on our own saving us money and hassle. Karma...

We happened to be passing by BasicEnergy in Mineola, New York, when we were out in that area visiting our best friends for dinner, and popped into the store quickly just to have a look. The owner Scott was so warm and welcoming that we felt like we known him for years. He showed us the models he had on the floor and pulled out many catalogs for us to look at. He was so accommodating but no pressure. We left to go to dinner, but returned late the next day, and he even remembered our names! We had spent the day price shopping, but returned to his store to make our final purchase because his prices were the best and he was just so darn nice. Read moreI am very impressed with Ron of Basic Energy Fireplace Equipment Corp. My 2 year old fireplace was not working - we replaced the batteries in the remote and still did not work. I called and spoke to Ron who asked me to send him a picture and he would try and help me. After I sent him the picture, he asked me if I had changed the batteries in the small black box in front of the fireplace . I told him I did not. Ron was polite and professional and could have easily sent a repair person to my house and charged me a repair call visit. I am quite happy he did not. After placing 4 new batteries in the black unit in the front of the fireplace ( which I did not even know existed) my fireplace is working again. Thank you, Ron! Highly recommend...
