From moment I met with front desk person , who I overheard saying rooms are filling up in the back to the other reception lady I should have turned around and walked out when I overheard that conversation and continued to a different hospital , but pain was so bad and waiting area had only 2 other people so figured all would be ok and I would get seeing quickly My first advice to anyone reading this … ask at front desk how busy it is in er area and if they tell you it’s full , do yourself a favor and go to another hospital .. it was worse experience I have been thru ..recently had surgery at another hospital in city which I would give a 10 star review … but was having some after effects from surgery and in a lot of pain so needed to visit a local er and city was too far for the pain I was in so that’s why I went to Nyack hospital … I was put on a stretcher in a hallway for almost 6 hours in excruciating pain I saw a doctor and a nurse initially who gave me meds and ordered some tests over the hours I asked at least 4 -5 nurses can you please send doc / nurse to help me tell me what’s going on with me and give me more meds or tell me results or if any plan …no one came ( I never saw that doctor again ) , I finally was told shifts are changing now and a new night nurse / doc will be taking care of you it was another half hour when new nurse came …. But getting back to the first nurse that gave me meds …she left me in a public toilet after helping me with a procedure that should have been done with me in a private patient room with own bathroom as I was unable to do myself with level of pain but because no rooms available I was instead taken by her to a gross public bathroom with her to do this , I am praying that I haven’t picked up any infections from what I went thru with her in a very unhygenic setting ….. but pain level was so bad I just wanted to do whatever to make it stop …she said she would come back I rang the help bell in bathroom but she did not come back for almost 45 min … and when I told her pain was off charts .. she yet again told me she would come back with more pain meds and answers from doc …. She did not … in meanwhile another random person opened door to come in to use the bathroom while I was still in there ( I was unaware that nurse never locked door for me when she left , ) I yelled out I was in there .. such a embarrassing , humiliating moment it wasn’t the persons fault as after all it was a public bathroom and was left unlocked by the very Not attentive nurse … I have given you some of detail of just one part the whole horrible experience and hope if you read my review you will pick another option for you or your loved one and find another er …. I will say one last thing that patient safety is a big issue , people were lined up on the hallway in stretchers some patients very shaky walking like myself were trying to get off stretchers to go to bathroom , massive risk of falling as no one is there to help patients .. no staff member is walking thru hallway to monitor to ask if patients are ok or need anything .. there are no bells or anything in hallway to call for help only bell I saw was in bathroom and not even sure it works …. I m not sure if Nyack hospital is short staffed and overwhelmed by the amount of patients they have to see on a daily basic … but it’s not an excuse , hospital is still going to bill my insurance top dollar for terrible patient service and get away with it .. it’s awful , maddening and upsetting , I m a younger person but feel so sorry for older patients that are put into these awful situations . a patient point person should be walking around keeping patients informed or asking them if they need anything especially for all the patients lined up in stretchers in the hallways , Nyack hospital definately seems lacking in management skills and trickles down to rest of staff in...
Read moreCurrently a patient in the mother and labor unit and my experience here started off terribly. They scheduled me to come in at 8 AM for cesarean section and I didn't deliver my baby until 8:38 PM. I understand they had a few Unscheduled emergency cesarean sections however the surgery went well and my baby was delivered healthy and safe. labor, and delivery was phenomenal both the morning and the evening staff we're great we're great !! it wasn't until I came to mother and baby unit The staff was great, very friendly the problem in the current so visiting hours were over and the security did its rounds and realized that my eight year-old brother was still there. I get it. I'm not above hospital policies but it's just the way that they handle the situation. Supervisor came in. She walked in while I was using the bathroom and basically stared at me while I wiped to myself, which I found very unprofessional then proceeded to tell me that they would be calling the police would be calling CPS and taking my kid for me and she saying this in front of my daughter who can hear her and is basically hysterically crying at this time I also had her here as well as my 20 year-old daughter and when I had the eight year-old hair, my 20 year-old was 12 years old and they had no problem with her staying and it was the same policy granted it was eight years ago but if they were able to make an exception, I don't see why they weren't able to but I also had her here and at the time my 10-year-old daughter stayed with no problem of what people don't know people situations. Why would you just come in the first thing you suggest is calling The police, who will then call CPS I didn't wanna come here to have my kid here anyway, I really wanted to go to good Sam but this is where the doctor was delivered. I never really liked Nyack hospital They have a reputation for killing people ,The food is disgusting. The staff is just weird and phony. Nobody really made it seem like it was a problem for my daughter to be here. They all made it seem like they just don't let her stay again another night and then this nappy Hair lady with a bad wig comes in, threatening to call CPS me I hate it here. I'm gonna try to leave tomorrow even though I was scheduled to leave two...
Read moreThe only thing this hospital got right was my birth back in 1998. I have never experienced such a terrible experience while in extreme pain. I ran into the ER this past Saturday and the staff was rude and uninterested in helping. From the moment I walked in, I had to signal the woman at the desk because she did not see me standing there because she had her AirPods in watching Netflix. I was in excruciating pain in my eyes and I couldn’t even bare to be there and this woman did not make the experience any smoother at check in. After I waited for a half hour in an empty waiting room, I was greeted by the only helpful person there and she was so sweet. Too bad she wasn’t in the actual er. After she put me in express, I still waited for a half hour again. There was no doctor present and the nurse who came in at first came to ask me questions with a pen and notepad which I find odd considering any other time I’ve been there it’s gone straight to a computer or tablet. After she left no one came in for another 20 minutes and during that time the two nurse in charge of the er were cackling on their phones with er filled with patients. When I was finally giving the medicine and waited some time to kick in, my sister went to ask how long before the medicine starts to work they were ready to release me. No test were done or conducted just info that I had given them. When the second nurse came into the room, my mother asked how am I being released when the issue hasn’t been solved or diagnosed the nurse stated and I quote “ she’s fine, she’s just probably frustrated because of the day she’s had”. I was so disgusted and disappointed that she literally disregarded my pain and then stated “didn’t you come here for pink eye?” as if I’m the one they hired with the medical background. That night was a mess and I ended going to Good Sam where I was greeted and helped with such kindness and diagnosed with...
