I’ve been going to Main Essentials for years and finally got around to writing a review after stopping by again recently. This place has ALWAYS been consistently incredible in every way: the owners and staff are some of the friendliest, sweetest people ever, and the food is just absolutely heavenly. It is one of the rare places in Rockland where you can get a truly delicious, flavor-packed, home-cooked, and AFFORDABLE all-vegan food. I really missed this place during the peak of COVID and am glad they opened back up (though they're still take-out only). Since it’s in the heart of downtown Nyack though, the beach with outdoor tables and benches are just a short walk away, where you can enjoy your food with a view. Whenever I go, I always get their hot bar items in a bowl; these hot bar items change everyday and they’ve been fantastic every time I’ve been. The pictures here show 2 PACKED bowls with all the hot bar items, for just $15… amazing prices for even more amazing food. Their mock meats are always bursting with delicious, mouth-watering flavors and pleasant textures; their vegetables are perfectly cooked and seasoned; and their rice and beans are richly flavored and spiced. I’ve also tried their juices and smoothies in the past, which are always fresh, delicious, healthy, and well-priced. I’m also a big fan of their Jamaican ā€œbeefā€ patties made of seitan. The seitan is boldly flavored and well-seasoned, and the patty dough is crispy and flaky— a wonderful combination of flavors and textures. This is a gem of a location in Nyack, Rockland, and the entire state of New York. I can’t recommend it enough, and all my friends (vegans, vegetarians, and meat-eaters alike) who I’ve been here with throughout the years would wholeheartedly agree!!

Delicious vegan Caribbean food. I drive an hour out of my way to come here once a week. It's delicious, the service is great (they are so nice!) And did I mention that the food is delicious? Because it really is. Not vegan health food, this is vegan comfort food. They have a menu you can order from or call and order take out that invites empanadas, and other main dishes. But I love their daily plate, "Beef" stew, collard greens, rice and beans and sweet plantains. It's great because it always give me a little variety and it's always -you guessed it- really really delicious!

I found a favorite place to eat out. So welcoming, friendly and informative I had to call friends to join me. I was welcomed into the family and left full. Full of joy, full of health wise fuel to accomplish my daily tasks. A best kept secret in the village of Nyack.

I’m so glad I discovered Nyack Main Essentials with a google search of local vegan restaurants. I couldn’t believe all of the great reviews, but after making my first trip to this restaurant I am now definitely a believer 😃. Upon entering the restaurant we received a very warm welcome. The positive vibes were felt immediately. As Lion, the chef and owner, shared out a hefty portion of all of the daily menu options we shared a great conversation. The passion for sharing this way of eating/lifestyle with the community was evident. Everything-the soya chunks, vegetable and chik’n patties, cabbage, rice & beans- was perfectly seasoned and delectable. I appreciated that nothing was overly salty or oily. I’ve never been to Nyack before going to Main Essentials but I am now looking forward to the next trip just to enjoy...
