BEWARE!!!!! They will cheat you in a heartbeat. My mother-in-law, who is Indian, told me the store was having a sale on saffron. She told me it was $20. I went to the store to pick it up for her. I asked the cashier for the saffron on sale. She gave me a small plastic container. I asked her again, is this the saffron that is on sale for $20? She said yes. I brought two of them. When I got home my husbandās family told me that what she sold me wasnāt what was on sale. In fact, the size of the container she sold me is only $10!!!!! The cashier charged me DOUBLE the amount the item normally cost, every day!!!
My father-in-law, sister-in-law and my husband went to the store. The OWNER told me I was mistaken. When we went to the cashier, she lied and said that she thought I said small. Again, what the cashier sold me only costs $10 every day!!! She charged me double the amount!! So, even if she thought I said small, she still charged me $40 for two items that should have cost $20.
When I said this to the cashier, she did not deny it and the owner had nothing to say. They eventually gave me the metal tin of saffron that was truly on sale, but it was a battle to get there. Both the owner and the cashier denied what happened and did not offer any apologies.
Neither I nor my family will ever return to this store. Im going to warn every person I know, both in the Indian community and outside the Indian community of what happened yesterday. And on Diwali! Shameful that they would try to take advantage during this auspicious time.
I have heard from other friends and family members that this is what Patel Brothers does. I gave the store the benefit of the doubt, but then this happened. There was another time I went to this same store and my husband and I bought incense for praying. The incense was only a few dollars, but the cashier added an additional $20 charge to the bill. When I questioned her about it she quickly took it off and said it was an accident. I let it go and trusted that she was telling this truth. Now this happened and itās starting to look like a pattern. If you look at the other 1 star reviews, they say the same thing.
If you arenāt Indian, BEWARE! You have to watch every single thing they ring up or else they will cheat you in a second. You are better off going somewhere else!
There are other Indian stores in the neighborhood that donāt try to take advantage of people. This is not the way to run a business and itās not the way to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay so obviously the people that have left a review here are all Indians. But let me tell you something about my experience shopping there. I'm someone that doesn't look remotely like an Indian whatsoever..
So I purchased 10.90 of products, went to cashier (she's in her 40s, not senile or anything) and give her 21 (a twenty and a one dollar bill), thinking it's convenient obviously that she would give me a 10 and a dime...
She then took a dime and a 5 dollar bill from her register, gave me the dime, and then kept holding her 5 dollar bill and said something to me in Hindi or whatever language... and then proceeded to put the 5 dollar back in register and then just stood there looking at me..
Not understanding what's happening, I said, "so where's my ten dollars??" she then gave me the receipt on which she typed that i tendered 11 dollars... (obviously she entered the number before she pulled the dime and 5 dollar bill).. so I said "no, i gave you twenty one so you should give me ten dollars and ten cents)...
She then pretended that she didn't understand what I said and called another girl from an enclosed room right next to the cashier area, and said something to her in Hindi and showed her the receipt and that girl took the receipt and went back to that room.. the whole time I was just standing there looking at them putting on a show without saying a word.
Then after about 5 mins that girl came out of her room and came back and said something to the cashier and gave her the receipt. The cashier said to me "so I give you 9 dollars right?" I said "no you should give me ten dollar" and then without missing a beat she pulled a ten dollar bill and gave it to me, with no emotion on her face...
Now you be the judge as to what she was trying to do to me.. Sorry, one star when 0 star is not...
