Perhaps like many middle-aged women, I’m nearly 63 y/o, I began my gym membership with hesitation and stuck mainly to the treadmills. Not a bad beginning, but knew I needed, wanted, and deserved more. I admit to feeling overwhelmed and intimidated, not knowing how to navigate the gym and/or utilize the equipment, and realized what an absolute waste of time and membership that was. I decided to take the leap and ask for a trainer. Ladies, we know that with age we are losing muscle mass and need to build core strength . With a deep breath, I put my physical and mental well-being into the hands of personal trainer, CHRISTIAN BETKE. I was immediately put at ease - his knowledge of fitness, the human body, muscle groups, and how they work was evident. Starting at the beginning was easy and I never felt like I couldn’t succeed. I never even felt like a beginner. Christian helped educate me on exercise and nutrition, gave advice on carry-over exercises to do at home, and even showed me video clips. When I started my training with Christian, I had a torn rotator cuff and two torn labrum. I was not able to raise my left arm above my shoulder and had suffered neck pain for 15 years. I was beginning to experience knee pain and just didn’t feel very good, or much like myself at all. I had spent years in chiropractic care, in PT, in cryotherapy, you name it - and got little or only temporary relief. What I needed was to strengthen my core. And that’s what Christian did. And it didn’t even take very long. I feel one million percent better, stronger, younger, healthier, and HAPPIER! I’ve included the picture to show that I e crossed those monkey bars - yup, at almost 63 years of age - something I haven’t done since 5th grade. And YOU can do it, too! Go to Crunch Schenectady!!! Ask for Christian Betke! Don’t wait!!!! Go, and feel as good as I do! You deserve it, and Christian will take you there! By the way, I haven’t been to the chiropractor in two...
Read moreWOULD NOT SUGGEST BUSINESS PERK MEMBERSHIP. When I spoke with Danielle Donovan, on October 31, she advise me my monthly payment would be $99 as I was being grandfathered in before the new rates took effect. As discussed with Danielle; on November 6 I paid 31.99, which is my normal membership. Cool. On December 6, I was charged $101.98 as agreed. Great. On January 1 I was charged $139.98 ( membership plus annual) and again on January 6 I was charged 31.99 NOW my three month period has came as of February 1 I was charged 31.99 on February 6th HOWEVER I am being told I cannot cancel my business perks until I pay the remaining amount of $99 is paid. I am not disputing the $99 that was owed for my third month, but why am I being double charged!? Why am I paying $31.99 and $101.99?!!! Danielle Donovan advised me I would not be paying for both memberships. And for one month I wasn’t! December was the only month I was not double billed. And not for nothing why would anyone agree to pay $100 on top of their monthly membership for business ad to be broadcasted on ONE TV!! I do plan to share this terrible business story with all of my friends and family. After the experience, I have had these last two months I am absolutely appalled. I have been coming to crunch fitness for over 6 years and have loved it!! I have engaged in many classes, hired a personal trainer and attended group sessions during Covid! Never have I ever dealt with such incompetence to something I thought was so simple. I was clearly lied to or misrepresented about the business perks membership and WOULD NOT...
Read moreDon't let the 3 star rating deter you from this gym, because it is a VERY good gym, just not perfect. I'll start with the negatives. There's some equipment that they don't have, that if were here would give it another star. Specialised free roam benches, different cable machines, a true Hack Squat. Not much, but things that would really help with variety. Another down side is the the noise from the classes. The trainers use a mic and speakers, but it sounds like they have the mic right on their lips and are screaming. The noise coming out of the speakers is incoherent for sure. It drowns out any music from my headphones, and you have to yell to be heard by anyone your lifting with. The goods though are very good. Equipment is always clean, plenty of space to move and not bump into other people. Proper squat racks and deadlift platforms, lighting is A1. I truly mean it, if those few things were fixed, then it would be a 5 star gym 100%.
Also, one thing from when I signed up. There's multiple billboards around the area, and their website still says the rate is $9.95 per month, but when I tried to sign up in person I was told $14.95 per month. I literally had to go online and sign up in front of the gym employee to get the lower rate. Kind of sketchy. I've been a member for about a month now, and the front door has been broken...
