We really enjoyed our trip to the Star Trek Set Tour! It’s a fantastic experience, whether you're a die-hard Trekkie or someone new to the franchise. We drove up from Saratoga, and the scenic route to Ticonderoga made the trip even more worthwhile. Booking was simple, and the staff was friendly and helpful throughout.
However, one aspect did detract from our overall experience. For a museum that caters to such a passionate fan base, we found our guide underwhelming. They seemed neither particularly enthusiastic nor well-informed about Star Trek or the tour itself. The guide was very young, possibly 15 or 16, and while we respect any young person that is working, we feel management should exercise more discretion when assigning such an important role—especially since many visitors go out of their way to make this trip.
The experience started on the wrong foot when the guide mentioned being tired first thing—this energy persisted throughout the tour. They seemed eager to get through exhibits, rarely smiled with the group and mentioned repeatedly that another guide was taking too long. At one point, they mentioned not having seen the show in nine years (which would make them no older than six at the time). They also frequently expressed that they 'hated' iconic Star Trek sounds, like the Red Alert and classic themes, which felt out of place for this setting. At one stop, the guide said they couldn’t provide more details about one area because they were new.
Most concerning were a few inappropriate jokes of a sexual nature. It felt uncomfortable and inappropriate, especially coming from a teenager addressing a group of adults.
For future visitors, we recommend calling ahead to check when more experienced guides are available. Other staff members we encountered were clearly knowledgeable and passionate fans, which made this shortfall even more noticeable.
We understand staffing challenges, but the guide’s lack of preparation and inappropriate remarks dampened what could have been a really great experience. That said, we still loved the set itself and were happy we made the trip. Hopefully, this feedback helps management improve future tours for...

My disappointment was with customer service...we drove as a family up from Maryland to see the Set Tour and see Mr. Shatner in person in Ticonderoga. When I arrived, I purchased a couple souvenirs for my kids and an a la carte photograph with Mr. Shatner for Saturday. We were told to show up Saturday with our wristbands and went on our merry way.
Saturday morning we stand in line for three hours (I expected this) but when we got to the front of the line, we were told since we did not have white ticket passes, which apparently should have been given to us when we purchased, we would have to leave the line and speak to someone at the table. We did. The woman at the table was very unkind, asked me to recount exactly what I'd purchased when I arrived because the system only showed a lump sum, and then begrudgingly gave me a photo ticket. Then, realizing she'd accidentally given me two tickets (why would I want two pictures?) she snatched them back out of my hand and took one, acting again like I was trying to steal something from them.
Recovering from this embarrassment, we returned to the line. Thankfully people let us back in because staff did not help us get our place back in line. We handed out ticket to the attendant. He asked me which adult was going to stay outside and watch the kids because they weren't allowed in for the photo. This AFTER I have asked two people via email and the young man when I purchased it if was okay for my kids to be in the photo too. After debating this for a few moments he let us through.
Very embarrassing all around, and felt like we were unwanted because we had (WELL BEHAVED) children there. I'm not sure why I deserved for staff to act like I was stealing a photo op that I purchased.
All in all, fun set tour but the staff interactions definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. I would...

This is absolutely what it was like for Shatner & Company when they were filming so long ago.
This is absolutely what it was like 250 years from now when a bold crew walked the hallways of that space vessel and explore it out into the Galaxy.
I think every little thing that you can possibly remember from the show is here. Hallways, crew quarters, Sick Bay, labs, engineering, transporter room, Bridge. It's all here. And it is picture perfect.
The principal difference that you notice is that you're looking at it through your eyes instead of a curved television lens. It's a joy to find the spot where the camera stood and replicate the exact angle of Any Given shot that you remember.
Yes you can sit in the captain's chair. Yes you can look through Spock's viewer on the bridge.
You've seen the show on TV and you've always wanted to be there. It exists. It exists here. And you can step through this doorway and actually be there for an hour and a half.
This is the absolute Zenith of Fanboy experiences. This is your chance to be on the show to be in the show. To be inside the tv. To be one of the crew of the USS Enterprise.
If you love Star Trek then this is everything you've ever wanted when you were watching.
I took the guided tour which was $50. A guide led us through and explained everything in complete detail. And he took a whole bunch of pictures. And he was very patient. He would stop and answer extra questions about extra things and expand detail. And he would take extra pictures for us at numerous locations. Excellent guide excellent show.
I've been on a lot of Tours for a lot of places a lot of things. This is easily the best tour experience I've had by a wide margin.
Go there. Buy a t-shirt. Take the tour. Live long...
