On August 26th at 1152am my brother and I had paid for our groceries at the food city on 3030 E 22nd st Tucson, Az.
Prior to going into the store I was still in my car and opening our car door an employee named Maria told us we weren’t allowed to bring my brothers emotional support dog in with us. My brother and I had told her that what she was telling us was strictly against the law and cannot be telling customers this if the service animal is already registered.
She then said well your dog is going to bite someone. I said mam clearly you are in the wrong and you really need to leave us alone and allow us to do our shopping peacefully. My brothers dog is a 1 years old small poodle and it’s breed is far from being aggressive clearly more of a cheerful dog. We then were approached by Olga who was looking for us in the store. We once again had to let her know they are in the wrong for saying this to customers with service animals. My brother is an Army Vet and his dog is allowed to be with him inside the store.
We were approaching the self check out to pay for our stuff and Maria decided to tell me that I was not allowed to use the register I had to go to the register with an employee. I asked why am I not allowed to use it? She stated that it was running very very slow. I looked around at the other registers and customers were scanning just fine without any issues. I was baffled by her response through out our entire store shopping experience.
We were attacked I felt as my brother and I were very much harassed by Maria outside the store first then self check-out. I’ve never had any issues shopping at food city through out my years as a kid and as an adult. But, August 26th Maria made my brother and I feel uncomfortable.
I asked the cashier if I can get the corporate number to file a complaint. Maria over heard me and stated “you want someone I get you manager now” (her exact words” and got on the phone and paged Olga. I said mam I have the number just leave my brother and I alone. But her demeanor was clearly to continue to harassing us. After spending $203.05 at food city I left there beyond confused to the treatment an employee named Maria gave us that day.
The worst experience ever.
It doesn’t even deserve 1 star. But, in order to post a review I have to select a star. Clearly it...
Read moreEddie Basha owned Bashas but I don't know if he is involved or alive. My recollection is he must have died. The store however acted like a wannabe Republican governor in closing extraordinary early BEFORE the curfew instead of keeping up with plans to go to normal 11 p.m. hours. Should we forgive them for that? This means that workers where senT home and did not Get paid sufficiently for coming in if at all. Fry's remained open till 9 p.m. . ALL 8 days with bars even later They deserve credit for that.
Once a week you can get a good deal on either veggies and fruits or the other day meat and you should sign up for the emails since they don't necessarily mail you the ad. Bring a flashlight for the 22nd Street Country Club location if by Country Club road suntran bus at night and ring the bell after passing prior sign when arriving from the south. One way of doing that is by finding a transit app that tells you when to push the button ITSELF but you would think that suntran would have Bluetooth or some sort of Wi-Fi connection some sort of number that you could send a page to instead of having to touch SUPER VIRUS SPREADING buttonS. There's plenty of time for the text message to send & BE processed because it would send the moment GPS showed you having passed the prior stop or it would be since when you just tell it when you're going to be stopping at a time the app decides is sufficiently far in advance. All of the buses fareboxEs currently communicate at the transit stations that's how they get the bus passes. I'm not making this up! Suntran gets CELLULAR streaming video to spy on us, supposedly, but they don't bother to send us the passes we pay for until the bus physically Picks Them Up at a Transit Center if WirelessLy there. Food City is a great way to save money and eat healthy all week last week bananas were three pounds for a dollar right?

Read moreDecades ago this store went by the name of Southwest Market and it smelled terrible from rancid meat as soon as you entered the door. Through acquisitions and mergers, this store became a food City and it also smelled terrible from the same problematic rancid meat as soon as you entered the door. While the smell of rancid meat has improved and gotten substantially better over time, this establishment seems to be habitually falling short and missing the mark with it's meger improvement. I personally no longer buy meat here due to serious "trust issues" as it always seems to go bad almost immediately after purchase. It would appear that older produce is simply pulled to the front while fresh produce is dumped to the back of the void. This often leaves substandard produce that's clearly past it's prime within easy reach of shoppers for sale instead of being thrown away. With isolated exceptions, the staff is consistently rude and often proves unhelpful, the security guy acts like he's on a war footing with all customers. Prices, while claiming to be on sale are often no bargain here, factor in the stock that should be discarded still being offered for sale and it's no wonder food city's market share is seriously fading. The place is obviously horribly neglected, it's visibly run down and appears to be in a nose dive while on autopilot. I suppose it's to be expected when you have no shame in what you pawn off as acceptable and no pride in what you do. Despite the parking lot being recently renovated, I have some serious concerns over whoever painted these lines???? It all obviously points to a bigger systemic problem of staff...
