Very unprofessional and upsetting experience. I brought my cat here to be groomed. She has another regular groomer I take her to but since they were booked up, I very hesitantly went out on a limb bringing her somewhere else. Definitely learned my lesson the hard way. I am not picky about the shave/cut itself. My cat has a long healthy coat, so as long as she is shaved down to be comfortable and is safe/happy, I am happy. They informed me they don’t do a super short shave because they can’t for cat fur which was fine with me- though her normal groomer shaves her down shorter and completely smooth/clean, so it is possible. Nonetheless, when I got her home and saw the choppy shave, I wasn’t bothered especially given the decent pricing. But you get what you pay for… The next day I was alarmed to find large bald patches on the nape of her neck that were red with scabs and irritation. Definitely razor burn. I was extremely upset that I was not at the very least made aware of this when I picked her up. Instead, upon picking her up I was brought out the wrong animal twice before they were able to locate my cat. They then proceeded to ask me how much I owed them at checkout? Other employees weren’t very nice. Extremely disorganized and chaotic.
Just to top it off, my cat has been shedding a lot considering she was shaved and supposedly given a bath and deshed. Her ears do not look like they got cleaned even though that was supposed to be included. And she has been itching since- likely from cheap product. Again, none of this is the norm with her regular groomer.
I did speak to the owner about this. She was nice enough and at least offered an apology for my experience, which is more than I was expecting. But that was about it. She tried to explain “their side of things” which was that short shaves for cats are going to be choppy due to their silky fur. I explained why this was untrue and wasn’t what I had voiced as a concern to her regardless. That my cat has never had issues like this with grooming prior to this experience. Razor burn is easily avoidable and definitely not normal if they knew what they were doing. I told her I wouldn’t be returning and she needs to be aware they’re putting animals at risk. Since I wasn’t returning, she didn’t have any other solution for me even though she asked if they could do anything. I said “well, yes. how do you handle situations like this?” She had nothing. No refund offered even though I paid in full and tipped for a service I would have literally paid NOT to have done. Plus the extra money I spent on medication for her wounds that she wouldn’t have otherwise needed. Not surprised at all I wasn’t offered a refund and it wouldn’t have changed the outcome but it would have at least shown some genuine concern and accountability on their end. Again, SUPER unprofessional all around. Clearly not knowledgeable. If you’re trying to...
Read moreI am never one to leave reviews, but I took my dog here for the first time today and not only did he come home bleeding, but I wasn’t even offered a genuine apology. I have a regular groomer (Top Paw Grooming) that I would typically take my dog to however they couldn’t fit me in and I have to leave town for a family emergency so I decided to give this one a try based on the great reviews. I brought my Shiba in for a bath, brush and nail trim. When I picked him I wasn’t told that there were any issues during the appointment. However, when I got home, I noticed that he was bleeding. On close inspection, I saw that a large portion of his skin; all along his shoulder, neck and back was extremely irritated and was bleeding in many spots. It looks like they brushed him so hard that they were ripping hairs out causing bleeding. I usually bathe and brush him at home in between taking him to the groomers and he had no mattes or issues at all. I have also never had another groomer or myself cause him to bleed, no matter how much de-shedding needs to be done. As soon as I noticed, I went back to Minerva’s and nicely asked if anything had happened during the grooming, wanting to give the benefit of doubt. They said no, and that the only thing of note during the appointment was him being hyper. I explained what was happening with his coat and showed them pictures that I had taken. All of the women that were working there were in agreement that it was very bad and clearly because of brushing. The young woman who did the grooming herself was very nice and extreme apologetic which I do appreciate. However, the man that was working, there was unbelievably rude. He tried to convince me that this was normal, not that big of a deal, and that it could just allergies.I explained there was no sign of an allergic reaction, this has never happened before, and certainly IS bad and NOT normal. I kept explaining why I was so upset and hurt because my dog is everything to me and to see him hurt is extremely distressing. This man had absolutely no sympathy or care. I never want to be a “Karen” and my frustration has nothing to do with the cost of the service. However, I find it extremely frustrating that I was not even offered a refund because I certainly do not want to pay to have my dog harmed. The only thing he offered me was to have a free grooming next time even after I told him there was no way I would ever take my dog back here. Very...
Read moreThis place is awful now. Last time I had gone was a year ago before my dog passed away and they were great. Now there’s new people working there and they are RUDE. I had a called a few months ago to try and make an appointment for another one of my dogs and who ever answered the phone sounded irritated and wouldn’t even try and help me make an appointment that would fit my schedule. My mom recently took her chihuahua there for a BATH. They tried to shave him. He has multiple bald patches around his body. How do you mistakenly shave a dog? They acted like it wasn’t a big deal and that it happens. They were extremely rude when I called about it. They did nothing to say sorry and acted like my mom was an...
