I liked the museum well enough; among the wide variety of rarities were some fine examples of cars that rank among my favorites. I appreciated the decor, and the old jazz tunes that were playing complemented the general atmosphere. Only the vulgar signage in the restroom was out of keeping with the classic vibe. I felt the experience was worth the $10 admission.
However, I was turned off by the email newsletter I later received, in which there was a request for volunteers. While the museum may have attained non-profit status, it's not a rescue mission. One can reasonably assume that the owner is a person of significant means, and anyone who's read Tom Sawyer should be able to recognize the fence-whitewashing nature of the proffered "opportunities" to perform unpaid auto maintenance or to attend to visitors gratis. As the saying goes, "there's a reason the rich got rich." Fair remuneration for labor sometimes doesn't factor into their strategy.

Read moreWhile I never made it to the museum's old location this new location is great because now it's open year round! We visited on a Wednesday and even though it was busy it didn't feel crowded. The cars are displayed in three different sections with ramps leading to the wings-one of which has the Batmobiles! The volunteers wear green shirts so they're easy to spot and are ready to answer any questions you may have. Plan to spend about a good 2 hours here even more if you're a car buff. The museum is wheelchair accessible although some sections might be a snug fit. There's is plenty of parking available. Admission is $15 per adult with discounts for children, seniors, and military. Open Wednesday thru Sunday 10am to 4pm. Closed Monday...
Read moreI would highly recommend the Tucson Auto Museum for the quality collection of cars it has, and the manner in which they are displayed.
There are cats from all different eras here, and they are in excellent condition. The information signs are well written, interesting, and paint a good picture of the car and the story behind it.
The staff and volunteers are knowledgeable, friendly, and great people all round.
The collection changes a bit every few months as they get new vehicles in, so revisits are worth it.
The store has excellent postcards which look very nice framed.
All in all, for $10 per adult, this is a gem of a museum and a great way to spend an...
