I recently had the most distressing experience when I discovered that my bicycle had been pilfered from right under the nose of the valet service where I had parked it, securely chained, in what I had naively assumed to be a relatively safe and protected environment. The audacious act of theft was carried out with such a high degree of skill and precision that it left me utterly astonished and questioning the effectiveness of the security measures that were ostensibly in place to prevent such occurrences.
The nefarious individual responsible for this unwarranted pilferage had managed to gain access to a tool of significant size and strength, which was necessary to cut through the heavy-duty chain that I had meticulously wrapped around the frame of my bicycle. A task of this nature would not be feasible with a mere pocket knife or a common set of pliers; no, it would require something more substantial, such as a set of bolt cutters or a powerful metal-cutting tool, which are not exactly items one would typically find on the person of a casual visitor to a public venue.
Moreover, the location where the valet service operates is situated in a somewhat concealed area, being two stories above ground level and accessible only by a rather steep and winding ramp. This elevated position would presumably serve to deter any potential bike thieves, as it would require not only a certain amount of physical exertion to reach but also the nerve to commit such a crime in a relatively confined space that is likely to be frequented by a steady flow of people coming and going.
The valet in question, whose responsibility it was to oversee the safety and integrity of the vehicles and property entrusted to their care, was unfortunately not as vigilant as one would hope for someone in such a role. Instead of maintaining a watchful eye on the vehicles, the valet was observed leisurely seated on the topmost steps leading to the ramp, seemingly oblivious to the illicit activity unfolding before her. Her lack of attention was so pronounced that she failed to notice, much less intervene in, the brazen act of a person who had apparently called upon her boyfriend to come and provide the necessary assistance in the form of cutting the bike's chain.
The audacity of this duo was further underscored by the fact that the entire operation was carried out in a manner that was anything but clandestine. They seemed to be completely unconcerned with the possibility of being caught in the act, which suggests that they may have been emboldened by a lack of confidence in the surveillance system or the responsiveness of the security personnel at the location.
The presence of a working security camera would typically serve as a strong deterrent to such criminal behavior, as it would provide a clear visual record of the perpetrator and their actions. However, in this case, it appears that the camera was either not operational or not being monitored, as there was no immediate response to the theft, nor was there any evidence of subsequent efforts to identify and apprehend the culprits based on the footage.
The failure of the security staff to intervene in the act of theft, or at the very least to respond promptly to the sound of the chain being cut, is deeply concerning. It is reasonable to expect that in a setting where property is entrusted to the care of others, there would be a certain level of vigilance and readiness to act in the face of suspicious behavior.
To make matters worse, the theft was perpetrated in broad daylight, which implies that the thief and the valet had a certain level of comfort and familiarity with the area, making their actions seem all the more brazen and audacious. The ease with which they managed to carry out the crime suggests that they may have had prior knowledge of the security protocols, or the lack thereof, which is a truly alarming thought.
In conclusion, the theft of my bike from the valet service is a stark reminder of the importance of robust security measures and the necessity for those tasked with...
Read moreRiverSpirit has always been one of my favorites but over the last year it just seems impossible to win very often. I used to be able to go and at least enjoy myself for a little bit even if I didn't win. Lately, every time I am there I have staff following me everywhere it seems....even in the bathroom or constantly picking up trash around me obnoxiously (I'm not talking about the normal tidying up....this is like loud...or slamming seats into place right when someone gets up anywhere near me). I was on the phone with my sister during the summer wrapping up a conversation in the parking garage for an extra 10 minutes and a security officer was at my door asking me to go inside or leave. Meanwhile, I see people and smell people sitting in their car for long periods of time smoking weed and no one does anything. I have been coming here for years.....why harass me now....seems so weird?! Lol. Also, over by the RedBall machines they have the AC on so strong it freezes everyone out. My guess is they are trying to phase those machines out so they can put some more money makers in there. The problem is, that most patrons who go regularly can't play those high bet machines on a consistent basis ......maybe tourists but not regulars. They already took Superball and Liberty 7s out so I can only play those at Hard Rock or DuckCreek. Also, I hear about people getting free rooms or concert tickets etc. I have been a member for many years and I am doing good to get my little $5 every week. Meanwhile, Hard Rock has given me many free rooms and concert tickets over the years. Yet, I have spent more money at RiverSpirit and got nothing. I assume they must be doing well because they don't need my loyalty. I try to go to Duck Creek as well because they still have the machines I like but it is so hard to find an open machine on those. I feel like that alone should tell them something. Finally, it would be nice to have some healthier food options that aren't expensive. Anyways, I don't really think my opinion on this matters, but since I was asked I will say I am really disappointed. Like I said, I used to be a real fan of RiverSpirit but it just never hits anymore and the rewards are meager. I wish it was different because I live closer to them than I do at any other casino. The facility is beautiful, but if I never win much it defeats...
Read moreRiver Spirit Casino is an absolute joke. From the moment I pulled up, I knew it was going to be a disaster. The valet service was a mess—I waited 10-15 minutes, only for the staff to open a new line and wave other cars through while I sat there like an idiot. Great way to start the night.
Inside, things somehow got worse. I’ve been to plenty of concerts here, so I knew exactly where my seat was. But as I walked up, an overly aggressive usher (who looked like she was ready to tackle me) blocked my way and demanded my ticket. Fine, no problem. I showed it to her, told her my seat number, and kept walking—only for her to start yelling at me like I had just committed a crime. “Sir! Sir! Get back here now!” So I did. And guess what? I was RIGHT about my seat. Then she had the nerve to accuse me of lying about my own ticket.
Once the concert started, I had the pleasure of listening to someone behind me have a full-on phone conversation mid-song. Not a quick “Hey, I’m at a concert” call—no, a full conversation like they were sitting in their living room. When I pulled out my phone to take a single picture, some sloppy, disheveled security guard GRABBED me from behind. He had a Creek Nation shirt and a gun, which I guess made him feel important. He barked at me about no photos, so I put my phone away. Then I asked him if he could at least do something about the person yapping on their phone behind me. His response? “Who?” I turned around, and—surprise!—it was the same rude usher from earlier, completely ignoring the rules she was so eager to enforce on me. The security guard just acted like she didn’t exist.
By that point, I’d had enough. I called for my truck, and valet brought it quickly. But when I got in, I discovered that someone had messed with my radio. It had been turned off when I got out, yet somehow it was now blaring some static-ridden Christian propaganda station. Clearly, one of their valet drivers thought it was their mission to bless my ears with their nonsense. Here’s a tip: keep your hands OFF people’s personal property and stop forcing your beliefs on paying customers.
This place is a disorganized mess, run by rude, incompetent staff who pick and choose when to enforce their so-called rules. I won’t be back, and I’d recommend anyone considering it to go literally...
