A tip just for calling my name? I don’t think so…..
The falafels were mildly seasoned little sausage patty shaped things. Served with a decent tzatziki and a little fresh salad. Good, average, nothing special. The Chicken Tikka, that’s another story. This was some of the best Chicken Tikka I have had, easily topping any other in Tulsa. Moist, tender, spicy chicken breast meat on a bed of excellent seasoned rice. Good Chicken Tikka usually has a combination of ground coriander, turmeric, cumin, paprika, mild chili powder, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper that work together to produce that unmistakable fantastic flavor. This Chicken Tikka had that flavor and is covered with a drizzle of garlic aioli that kicked the deliciousness up another level. The flavors, the spices and moist tenderness of the chicken chunks reminded me of Chicken 65, only not as spicy. Both meals came with the very good seasoned rice, and fresh warm pitas with a crisp toasted edge.
The restaurant is well worn, small fast-food décor and ambiance. No service. Order, pay and pick your food up at the counter when your name is called. Self-serve drinks. Get your own tableware, napkins and any condiments you want from a table by the counter. Bus your own table when you are done. The only service that is provided; they call your name when your food is ready. No tip earned.
The price for the fast-food Chicken Tikka was $13.99. A fair price considering the fantastic taste, freshness and quality. Chicken Tikka is...
Read moreAmazing! Delicious! I ordered a falafel platter and a side order of grape leaves. I loved every bite.
In order from my least favorite to most favorite thing on my plate: Greek Salad - nice little side, I enjoyed the chick peas which you don't usually get in a more traditional Greek salad. Pita bread - toasted to perfection, a little color to make it slightly crisp, but still soft in the middle. The rice - no idea what kind of rice blend this was, it was delicious, I noticed a few peppercorns but no idea what the other flavors were, it was so good! Grape leaves - so happy I added this on to my meal. Fresh, stuffed perfectly. They didn't fall apart. Glad they were vegetarian. Tzatziki - so good, I've never met a tzatziki I didn't like, but this was better than most. Falafel - best I've had. The patty shape and size and breading was almost like a deep fried fair treat of some kind. Like a fritter or something. I loved the texture, slight chewy, very soft inside but a crunchy crust. The flavor was top notch. I loved this meal and can't wait to come back.
Edit: I was so excited to write about the food, I forgot to mention everyone working was friendly too. Thank...
Read moreMediteranean food is always close to my heart. Whether its the Kabobs or Shawarma, I love it. Have tried GyrosbyAli 5/6 years back but never visited since then. So thought to try their Gyros Platter today. The platter contains beef and lamb gyro, basmati rice, greek salad, pita bread, & tzatziki sauce. The order was ready within 5-7 minutes. I should say, it was amazing. The rice was cooked well, soft and the flavor was awesome and so was the greek salad. They had good amount of gyros compared to some other gyros places in Tulsa. Pita bread was as usual tender. Altogether a great lunch but since it was overpriced a bit, giving a 4* ( For $9.99, its worth compared to its original price of $11.99)
Had chicken shawarma and the flavor was exactly similar to the one you get at Shawarma Shack, BA(not sure if they are in partnership lol). But overall it was good. Instead of flour tortilla, it would be better if they use pita bread. That would give a different taste to the shawarma I feel.
The Sultan platter is really good with a mix of beef, chicken and lamb gyro. Loved the portion size too.
The beef shawarma...
