Extremely RUDE! I called hoping to simply explain about an antique I've been trying to find for over 30 years and the lady who answered couldn't answer so she handed to phone to Sherry, the owner, and she wouldn't let me tell her what I was looking for, she only let me say that it was a figurine. She goes into a drawn out explanation that there are thousands of figures from thousands of countries, etc., etc. And then asks why I want to know about it now? I told her because I want this figurine. I asked if I could just describe it, and she said that unless it's something so unusual, there's no point, and that I should just come in and look at their stuff. I said it IS unusual. Can I just describe it so you can tell me if you've ever heard of it. She says that I can try but I should just really come into her shop and look around. Her personality was just rude from the start. I asked her why is she making this so difficult. All I asked is if I could describe this piece to her. She started saying that I was making this difficult and that I don't need to play like that, she needs to end this call now. I just hung up. How do people like this stay in business? Why are you being so hateful to a potential customer? All I did was simply call to ask someone I thought was an antique expert a simple question about a simple figurine that my Grandparents had and I've been trying to find for over 30 years. I would stay far, far away from these people unless you like being talked at and talked down to. UPDATE: After this, I called and spoke with a nice gentleman at Forty Year Vintage at 5410 E 11th St, Tulsa, OK 74112 (918) 724-2741. I asked if I could explain what I was trying to find and he said sure. I explained and he had never heard of the figure. He told me I should call The Antiquary... and I explained what had just happened prior to this call. He was taken aback and gave me the name of another store. I called and they weren't able to take the call, so I didn't want to leave a long descriptive message. I ended up calling The Heart of Route 66 Vintage Market at 105 E Dewey Ave, Sapulpa, OK 74066 (918) 829-3118. The nice lady was so very kind and so very interested in helping me find this piece. She searched based on my description and found 3 different designs! (2 made in Italy! Cat & Dog!) Apparently, the little cat statue with the barometric ball of yarn was made in Japan, as I had thought because my Aunt Sachiko is Japanese, and it was made between the 1950s and 1970s! I remembered the cat as sitting down, but it was stretched out with it's rear on the ground and both its paws on the ball of yarn that is flocked and covered in Cobalt chloride so it would turn blue in sunny weather and pink in rainy weather. I can't believe after 30 years of looking off and on, she was able to find it so very fast from my simple description! I was so happy I thanked her repeatedly! So if you want to shop antiques, I can tell you that Forty Year Vintage and The Heart of Route 66 Vintage Market are the...
Read moreI've been a collector of antiques and oddities for many years. I have a complete understanding of varied pricing and the factors which impact it. I can't comprehend how this store is in business. I have never seen prices this high anywhere I've visited in the United States! It's absurd to the point of being offensive. I've been to many high end antique shops all over the country and I understand the difference in quality, rarity, things of that nature. This store is just mind blowing. The staff doesn't help matters. They aren't welcoming or helpful, actually it's quite the opposite. Years ago I visited this location and loved it, I'm not sure if it was a different business then or what changed but now it is...
Read moreNice store with interesting local inspired antiques and more. They have a vintage stereo shop next door that has some good receivers, Kenwoods, Fishers, at least one Marantz. Also a good wall of cd’s that was pretty legit too. Had some good books to snag. They were very accommodating to my use of a card more than once and I will remember to bring cash next time. Will be back; as the owner said he gets new...
