This place is pretty sad, all the salmon just go to the hatchery and die trying to make it to their native spawning areas higher in the river system. Can't even fish because of pollution from the gross reflection pond called Capitol lake... also all the invasive snails. Someone needs to remove this ancient dam and restore the coastal muflats so that fish can make it home. It's been way to long seeing this place have a hatchery for fake runs of salmon that are stocked from other hatcheries. Let's just say it is a tourist attraction for people that don't know anything about salmon yet. This place should show people what not to do when you find an awesome body of water. They have destroyed what nature created in this area... we should let our coastal waters flow wild and free !!!!! Restore the steh...
Read moreA hidden gem in the middle of the city. Nice historic lined with blackberry bushes. Walk south to see the fish ladders and read about the history. Cross over the bridge and walk under the shade of the trees a little further from the freeway. Across the bridge again to use a public restrooms that are very clean. And walk back on the other side of the river. Make it a loop. Very interesting history with the brewery, old location and new location.
