Capital Perks Espresso — Restaurant in Tumwater

I wanted to give this a 4 star and was gonna because last week when I came it was amazing the best drink I have ever had and they have homemade whipp cream so they got me and I swore it was my new coffee stand, BUT TODAY I went and I got handed a hot drink when I asked for blended I asked for a extra shot and my coffee came looking and like it had no espresso in it again WHT I asked for a extra shot was to avoid the super sweet taste and have a taste of coffee but no I got a milkshake today. I handed her $10 and a $2 tip so total of $12 for a $5 drink that I wasn't even happy with and I had to ask if I had any change because she handed us our milkshake and said have a good day with my money still in her hand??? Again I really really wanted to love this place but I wanna taste coffee in my coffee not sweet milk with ice. Again why I asked for an extra shot. I ordered a white chocolate mocha with toasted marshmallow and short bread and asked for whipped cream with my drink and again was handed my drink with out whipp cream she I had to send my drink back 2 times and I still didn't get what I asked for. Now I have been here 2 times before asked for the same thing and it was AMAZING.. I'm really really sad about this I wanted to take my drink back but felt like I was already in the wrong for correcting her on the mistakes she had made already. So I gave away the drink I payed for and went home honestly really sad and upset because I got out of bed so excited for my new coffee stand I found just to be really disappointed. Issue — menu and barista provided unclear pricing expectations.

Menu lists 16 oz drinks for X price. Asked barista if 16 oz drink comes with 2 shots. Barista said 2 shots.

Got bill and it was around $1.50-$2.00 more than I expected.

Charged for extra shot.

Also charged for card use (under $10).

That’s fine, but it would be nice to have that clarity from the beginning. Here’s a suggestion to how the conversation could go:

Customer: “hi, does the 16 oz mocha come with 2 shots?”

Barista: “it comes with 1 shot, but I can add another shot for X (price)”

Customer: “okay, I’ll stick with 1 shot, thank you”

Barista: “that’ll be X total, cash or card?”

Customer: “card, please”

Barista: “great. Do note that for totals under $10 we charge a 40 cent processing fee”

Customer: “cool, thanks for the info!”

Again, coffee was good. And this extra information might even be on the menu (unsure, hard to see when it’s on a sign that’s behind where someone pulls up). This is a brief suggestion for how the whole customer experience is. And those little tidbits of info are super helpful, at least speaking for...

Today was my first time going here even though I live close by. The young woman who helped me was so pleasant, friendly, and relaxed I was inspired to write this review. I ordered an English toffee latte, and the syrup wasn't strong at all, which I liked. Sometimes places make it so syrupy it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This one was good.
