I wish I could give 5 stars. I would if I were only judging the room, but there are other things that tie in to the experience. The room is very comfortable, and considering the price of real estate in the area- it is also a very good price. I have been here now for almost half of my 9 day stay, and I will say that Joy with Natural Retreats is a very kind person. She communicates well. There was an issue here, beyond her control, the water in my building had to be turned off for about 5 hours. This would not be a major downfall in and of itself, but this was not the first nor the only issue. My first flag was immediately after entering the room, I read expectations from the property management SB&RC. I have travelled through multiple states with my family, and never have I seen any regulation that mentions children. It seems harmless, but it automatically told me that there are numerous people here who do not appreciate children. Which I have 3. My kids are not perfect, but they are not evil either. They know how to behave, especially when we are a guest somewhere and not in our own home. But, like all kids, they do play. And I will not stop them. The first day of being here, I could tell that there was somebody under our 2nd floor room. Which, I assumed would be the case. And I could also hear that there was somebody in the room next to us. No big deal. We leave to get food, come back and go to sleep. The 2nd day, we spent our day out on the island and came back around 7pm. We cooked dinner with the balcony door and window open, and then again went through the end of day rundown. As I went out on the balcony, I could hear that the person underneath was also out on their balcony as well. But then I heard them slam their door shut, stomp stomp, slam another door. Ok so they're upset, must of had a bad day. About an hour goes by, so now this is 10:30pm mind you, and there's a loud knock on our door. I was startled naturally, we were all laying down at that point. I open the door to find a couple characters who have made their way to these reviews already, Debra and Joe I believe. I open the door and I am asked "is everything alright?" As she tries to peer into the room around the door. Instinctively, I shut the door behind me as I said that yes everything was fine. She goes on to say that she got "calls" of loud noises, possibly yelling, and a lot of banging and they thought that maybe the kids were hurt. The whole time, Silent Bob is standing with his arms crossed as if I'm Ted Bundy. By this time, my youngest son had woken up and walked to the door to see what was going on. And that's when Debra bent down and put her finger over her lips, and shushed my kid. So like any good parent, I shut the door in her face. That's day 2. Day 3, that's when the water got shut off, at 8am for five hours. Thankfully, Joy at Natural Retreats gave me a heads up about that. From that point on, I had to choose between risking reprimand, or force my children to walk on egg shells during our vacation. So, unapologetically, I chose to take the risk and enjoy our time. After all, I did pay $1300...
Read moreThis was our first time staying here and we weren't disappointed. It's close to the lighthouse side of island and was only a 5 minute drive into town. Love that it's a gated community so felt safe while there. We stayed in unit B312 and it was perfect for my family of 3. The complex is older but is well maintained and kept clean. Our unit faced the ocean and I could have sat there all day watching the dolphins swim and the big cargo ships pass by. Not a lot of waves unless a boat went by but you could walk down the beach a little and get that. After going into town and seeing the main beach by the boardwalk with all the crazy crowds I was happy to go back to our quiet waveless family beach. There are two pools with one being smaller than the other but still decent size. Only pool complaint was the fact it closed at 9. Made it hard to get back before it closed if we were out and about during the day/evening. Our unit was well maintained and fully stocked with everything we needed for the week. Dishwasher and microwave included (I read that some units didn't have dishwashers). There were even two floats for the pool blown up and ready to use. Not sure if left from the previous renters or provided by the owner but it was a nice treat. Wifi connection was sketchy at times but the unit also had cable tv. I liked the towel bars on the deck to hang our wet items for the night and the tall table and chairs to enjoy the view. Also had a ceiling fan on the deck. We were on the third floor meaning lots of stairs to climb but it was good exercise and gave us a great view of the beach. Floors were carpet in the bedroom (you walk into the bedroom from the door) which did gross me out a little but seemed to be kept clean , tile in the bathroom and wood in the kitchen and living room. Would be nice if there was a ceiling fan and room darkening curtains in living room. I would for sure stay again...
Read moreComplete deception. Rented a condo off the VRBO website. The pictures on the website of the interior were taken at a much earlier time. When we arrived the place looked kind of run down, but you could not see much because the light bulbs were burned out, still we decided to take a good look around. Finally someone dressed in a tuxedo rings the doorbell and hands me a bag from the dollar general store with light bulbs in it. Overall initial impression was very poor cleaning. The carpet had tears in the seams, the place looked like it had not been vacuumed. 1978 called and wanted the vintage refrigerator back that would not cool. The balcony had a cigarette butt can full of cigarettes. When we turned on the TV we found the the 1996 TV had a burned out tube so you lost all of the picture around the edge. When my wife went to pull out a drawer, there was no safety stop so it came out completely and crashed to the ground. Decided to go down to the beach, only to be bitten by fleas and see the sign with a swimmer in a circle/slash advising no swimming by order of the health department. The final straw was deciding to take a shower after the beach fiasco and the water came out dark brown with sulfur/sewer smell so strong we had to leave the condo. We rinsed off in the swimming pool, packed up our stuff, loaded up the car and stayed at the Marriot in Savannah. I contacted the health department about the foul stench of the water. We did spend some time at Tybee Island but we feel that this particular place is a dump. The advertising was deceptive, calling it a "resort". We wont be back to Tybee...as nice as some people think it is. We will spend our time at cleaner more appealing places on the...
