Went and saw the premiere of the movie "Cheater, Cheater". A horror movie filmed right here in Yakima, with Yakima actors, and the scriptwriter/film director is also a local. I had a great time!! The movie was intriguing and kept me guessing who the killer was the entire time - I had it WAY wrong at least 3 times, lol. There were a ton of COs there to support their friend and coworker, who happened to be one of the main actors in the film, so I found that slightly unnerving because I USUALLY only see those guys when I get locked up. Especially in such large numbers!! I'm sooooo glad I'm not smoked out, doing the most, and practically begging to have a pair of those suffocating silver bracelets slapped on me.... Lol I'd have been cooked!! The movie exceeded my expectations though, and everyone in attendance enjoyed themselves based upon the huge amount of applause that erupted as the credits started rolling. The only downside was the price of the concession stand fare. Almost $20 for 2 Large sodas and a large popcorn!! That's crazy. But I paid it, so who's...
Read moreI've been to this theatre quite a few times. It's one of the very few places to catch a movie in Yakima. However, I do prefer this location over the cinemas on 16th. The decor and ambience of the place is really nice on the inside. The neon Majestic sign provides a nostalgia fix for those seeking a feel for what movie theater we're like in the past. My biggest gripe is the popcorn. I mean, how can you have a movie theater that doesn't serve up some salty/buttery popcorn. If I'm eating popcorn I'm not concerned about my health. The last time I was here, I was served the most bland popcorn I've ever had at a theater. No salt, seasoning, or butter whatsoever. I had the lady put butter and made the assumption that the popcorn had at least some kind of seasoning. I was wrong. Could have had some better popcorn at the house. I feel petty for griping about the popcorn, but at a movie theater? That's one thing you should have down. Overall, I don't think you'll be disappointed with your experience here. Just forewarning on the...
Read moreWhen I first saw the reviews here I thought they were probably a little bit harsh and over reactions. After recently visiting I can confirm that most of these other reviews are not over blown. On a positive note, the theaters are generally clean. I think that's the only positive thing I can say. My first beef - this is a cash-only establishment. Really? Its 2016 and I can't use a credit card here? A $2 ATM fee? Wow.....coming from a bigger city, prices aren't ridiculous, but they seem high for a cash only place. It's $8.00 for a matinee and $10.00 for the evening shows. Food prices are way too expensive, per normal. A medium popcorn medium is $3.50 while the medium drink is $4.25. Let's just say that the filmed announcements made prior to the movie (no feet on seats in front of you, no texting, etc.) are singlehandedly the worst I've seen anywhere....
Overall, I'm pretty disappointed with this place and I don't plan on being back...
