Found this by accident! Awesome little trail system behind the Crossroads Colonies Shopping Center. Wheelchair friendly if your wheelchair has tires that can handle a little bit of loose dirt. The trail is predominantly made up of packed dirt/sand but it has a few spots where the sand has loosened up a little bit so your wheelchair may slide a little. If you are a walking person you won't have any problems but I would recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toed walking shoes (not flip-flops or sandals because the dirt will get trapped in your toes). There are 3 trails. If you take the longest trail all the way around it is about 1.9 miles; the second trail is 1.25 miles; and the third trail is .25 miles. There are covered concrete picnic tables throughout the area (no graffiti or trash either!). It looks like there used to be a small pond there but right now, 5/28/22 it was completely dried up. The signs say watch for snakes. We didn't see any snakes but we did happen upon a couple of rabbits and many beautiful birds. It's remarkably quiet and you feel like you are in a whole different world considering it's right behind a shopping center. It dips down into a ravine so it gives a feeling of being completely out of the city and into a little pocket of wilderness. It's nice for a little break in the middle of the day. *PLEASE NOTE: PARKING IS A PROBLEM. There is absolutely nowhere to park where Google maps says the main entrance is. We drove around and noticed that there are a few different places to enter the trails so we wound up parking in the shopping center and entering just west of Charles Schwab on N. Campus Ave. (Kind of across the street from Bed Bath & Beyond). *ANOTHER NOTE: Google maps says that the trails are only open on Sunday and Wednesday. We did not find that to be true. We went on a Saturday and they were open. There were no signs anywhere indicating the operating hours and no ropes/chains blocked off the entrances so I'm not sure why that online information is inaccurate. I've included pictures (I was in a wheelchair so these are the best that I could get 😉)....

It was so breathtaking to see the water and all the plants that were around me, truly amazing. If you’re looking for a trail to do with your buddies or just by yourself then I would definitely recommend coming to...
Read moreGreat little trail. Just make sure you leave at dusk (and by dusk I mean early dusk, not right before it is night time). Security does come in and locks up the gates. They let everyone know the gates are being locked, but if you are off trail (though you are not supposed to be) or don't listen, you may get locked in...
