Update on my 1 star review. I was contacted by the owner the night of our dinner experience. He apologized and made the situation right. He assured me that the appropriate people had been talked to and that kind of experience was unacceptable and would not happen again. I hope to go back at some point and be able to leave a 5 star review in the future.
Just about everything that could have gone wrong did. For starters, the Service was absolutely horrible. The manager took our order and forgot to submit it to the kitchen. (The table that sat 30 minutes after us had their appetizers and food before we even got our one appetizer pretzel). Our waitress came by and asked how we were doing. I asked for more water and she said okay and promptly forgot about it as she went to other tables. We finally got our pretzel (an hour after we sat down) Then a second pretzel showed up…we told the waiter maybe the manager sent it because we’ve already been waiting an hour for our food, because he forgot to submit our order. He said he probably got the wrong table and took it away (when the bill came we actually got charged for 2 pretzels and had to get it corrected). Once the food came, the fish and chips were over cooked, the garden grilled sandwich did not come on a French roll as it was ordered, the burger was under cooked for what it was ordered and cold by the time I got it.
Let’s not talk about the mandatory “large party” tip for 5 people. Like what the heck?!?!
We will never be going back there…for as many words as I spoke here, I’m at a...
Read moreFirst of all there are not enough people like them in this world. The servers are absolutely incredible, understanding, kind, and accommodating. My son is severely autistic and has a sensory disorder. Our server who was so absolutely sweet and accommodating made our time incredible even though we couldn't stay the whole time finishing our meal. Their patience, and them helping us, although I was in tears during my beautiful sons melt-downs because of the current sensory... my server took a lot of anxiety away by being so understanding and accommodating. I will always cherish and come here for the future. We need more understanding and amazing people like that in the world. I thank you guys a thousand times over. Also, the food was superb even though we had to take it home it stayed fresh and yummy and my son loved his fries. I loved how the cook came out with a bowl of fruit for my baby boy which he crafted a beautiful pumpkin out of the apple/dried apricot which looked incredible in time for Halloween. I will always recommend this place. Their service was incredible, food was absolutely amazing, and I felt so much support for my...
Read moreMy husband and I have been to The Back Abbey in Claremont, but we recently came to the one in Upland for the first time.
We came during the weekend when they have their brunch menu available. A plus for us is that they have an outdoor patio that's dog friendly. We arrived a little after 10:00am with two of our dogs. We were immediately greeted and told that we could pick any table we wanted.
There's actually a very nice view from the outdoor patio. We were trying to eat a little cleaner after the holidays so we both got water and both ordered the Steak Salad ($18.00) and added avocado for an additional charge. The Steak Salad comes with grilled beef tenderloin, mixed greens, peppadew peppers, red onions, and feta cheese dressed in sun-dried tomato vinagrette. It was very good.
Our server checked on us several times, refilled our waters, and asked if our dogs wanted a water bowl. They had a lot of items on their brunch menu that sounded really good so next time, I will have to...
