I used to go to this establishment, pretty frequent and faithfully until one day I went for a late night workout and accidentally left my watch by some equipment. After arriving home I realized I had forgot it and went back for it no more than an hour later when i arrived I went looking for it in the place I had left it but could not find it . I then asked the worker at the front counter has he by chance seen a watch he replied saying ânoâ and tried to search the lost and found. At this point I thought another member might have taken it. The very next morning I ended up receiving a lot of different messages showing me that a member of that gym had actually turned it in to the front desk to the same staff I had asked originally . I then went back up to the gym that morning hoping that it was there but wasnât . I spoke to a manager which I do not remember her name and showed her that it was indeed brought up to the desk 30 minutes PRIOR to my arrival the night I went back for it . The manager had went to go check the cameras and took over an hour ! Comes out of the office and says they do not have my watch and that there was a camera angle that she needed to get her higher ups to access for her because she couldnât . At this point I knew something had happened and in other words she told me that the member had stolen my watch and that they will handle it and get back to me about it after talking to her bosses to see what actions they need to take and what they can do as a form of reimbursement and I never heard anything !! 2 weeks later the manger quit and I havenât heard anything as to what they can do for their employee...
Read moreGenerally, it's a good gym. Despite that they're trying to cultivate a culture that's not intimidating beefcakes and fitizens, I overheard one of the assistant managers, a female, tell one of the staff that 'ellipticals and Arc Trainers are worthless.' I think for her, being that she looked athletic, may have rung true, but it's clear she doesn't fit the model or demographic that actually go to that gym, nor does her attitude seem to suggest that she's there to help. My point being some people that go there can't do high impact workouts like stair climbers or run on the treadmill, so any activity is better than nothing.
To clear the air, get your work out in however you can within your means and comfort level. Don't let beefcakes and fitizens like this person intimidate you from doing something good for yourself.
It's inexpensive. They've got pretty well maintained machines and it you need something to eat, they have pizza and bagels on certain days of the month. I only broadcast that last piece because we're in a college town in a more impoverished side of Urbana, so, some people need a meal and to get a workout too. No...
Read moreBeen coming to this Planet Fitness (PF) location as of lately due to the PF in Champaign temporarily closing. Overall, itâs a solid gym; solid atmosphere.
A con about this gym is that it appears to be a little crowded (it maybe due to the temporary switch from the Champaign PF to here). In the free weights section, there wasnât to much room to get loose. I had just a little space around me to lift the dumbbells.
Another con (somewhat) is the parking lot. I have visited this location three times now and two of the three times I had people approach my vehicle: One person asking for money and another person just rattling about something and I just pulled off. I come later in the evenings; so I suggest if you come later, just to be aware of your surroundings.
Minus the two cons I mentioned, I donât mind coming here to workout at all; its cool. People are friendly. Since Iâve been coming to this location, the equipment I wanted to use has always been available (despite it being somewhat crowded).
So all in all I would recommend. Just be aware in the parking lot if you come later in...
