A-1 TV & Electronics Service Inc — Attraction in Vancouver

My TV went on the fritz with an intermittent problem, so I took it to A1 to have them look at it. I waited a week and they finally looked at it and told me that the problem was probably the t-con board. It's a common problem for Samsung TVs like mine, a fairly safe bet for them. So they ordered a replacement which arrived a week later, at which point I was told that they had ordered the wrong thing because it "looked the same." It turns out the t-con board for my TV wasn't being manufactured anymore so they needed to order a used one. They did that, a week later they received it and found the one they received was bad. Its a part that's known to go bad, it was used, so okay, a little bad luck and they ordered another one. Another week and that one arrived, they installed it and called me to tell me everything was ready. "Great!" I thought. The only problem was I was out of town for a family emergency and asked them if they could store my TV for a few days until I returned. Their response was "Not really. We're very busy and you need to have someone come pick it up." So they have my TV for a month, one week of that due to their screw up, finally get it done and they can't even store it for a few days. Fine, whatever, I was looking forward to having a working TV again so I sent my father to pick it up. I get home a week later and finally get to use my newly fixed TV. I turn it on and the very first thing it does is exhibit the same problem I took it in for. So it took a month and $200 to be back in the exact same spot, a broken TV and no idea what's wrong. At that point I was done with A1, it was an awful experience. They guessed at what was wrong, charged me a bunch of money, and couldn't do the smallest thing to help me out (i.e. storing the TV for a few days). I'd look elsewhere if you have any problems...

I have a 10 year old 45" Samsung tv that the sound had become so distorted as to make it unwatchable at any volume level. Knowing it was a long shot, I made several calls last Saturday trying to find a tv repair that makes house calls. The first place I called was Ableman's and the owner explained that he doesn't do house calls because he's a one man shop. He did refer me to A-1 TV & Electronics. I thanked him and immediately called them. Dan, the owner of the family business and who took over for his dad answered the phone. Within minutes he gave me a time to call him on Tuesday to set up an appointment. He confirmed that I'd be better off keeping my TV and replace the speakers with a Yamaha soundbar. I received a senior discount on the service call charge and he does make house calls utilizing safe practices. He gave me an hour window in which to expect him and when he saw he'd be running late, he called me. I explained that I wanted the soundbar paired with my Xfinity remote and he was able to do that. He took the time to explain how the soundbar remote worked and how I could adjust the sound based on what I was watching be it a movie, concert etc while adjusting the subwoofer (bass). He told me not to hesitate to call if I had any questions or problems. Dan was easy to work with and answered my questions. I highly recommend A-1 TV & Electronics for their professionalism and knowledge. I will be adding their name to my list of locally owned family businesses that I use for future repair needs. ...

These guys are simply amazing. Our Phillips Flat screen was having problems. Dan came out and gave it a look. After duscussing with us as to what is going on...we decided it needed to go into the shop to fix.

As it was our only TV that was disappointing...but he then gave us a couple of offers on sets he had in the shop. He offered another one of similar size for a great price...but when we got ours back we would have no room for both.

The smaller one he then offered turned out to be a great deal...but since his shop was closed...we would be without until the morning. I lamented that I could not just follow him to his shop and buy...he said he normally would do that..but he had another call. He offered to call me after that and come meet me and let me grab the other TV. That worked out great. Plus...we both talked about our joint interest in Sci-Fi and games....probably a little longer than we should...but that is what fans do...especially me. :)

I would not hesitate to use his services again...and highly recommend him to anyone who need TV and related stuff worked on. I...
