After watching the construction and advertising for this place, my wife and I were excited to give it a try. We arrived around 8:30 PM and were promptly greeted and seated. The hostess was friendly as she guided us through the mostly empty restaurant to our table. Our waitress arrived shortly after. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and we have nothing but good things to say about her. She explained the menu and the "system" to us and then took our drink order.
This was our first experience with this style of restaurant. The gimmick is that you have a small gas grill at your table and they bring you meats and veggies that you select from different levels of experience. We chose the premium experience which was $31.99 per person. We opted to go with Teriyaki Chicken, NY Steak, Thin Sliced Brisket and Garlic Beef for our meats and then added sliced pineapple, mushrooms and green onions for our veggie offerings.
The food arrived quickly and our waitress turned on our grill and explained the use of the tongs. In theory you get two sets of tongs, one for raw meat and one for cooked meat. In actual use we each took a pair and used them as we saw fit. I imagine it is a health code thing, whatever. The Chicken, and the Garlic Beef were pre-seasoned and were very tasty. The garlic beef was AMAZING, I will likely try to duplicate the flavor in my own kitchen. One complaint though, on the garlic beef, it seems that they found the cheapest fattiest cuts of meat to marinate for this selection. There was easily 1/4 to 1/3 of the weight if this dish wasted on fat and gristle. The NY Steak and the Thin Brisket were unseasoned and there were no seasonings at the table, not even salt and pepper. There was some dipping sauces provided, a soy sauce based citrus sauce and a sesame oil based glaze. Both were flavorful and worked well with the unseasoned meats, however I would still like to have a few other seasoning options with any unseasoned meats. Ensuring thourough cooking was slightly problematic, I know exactly how long a given piece of meat will take on my grill at home, but that is largely a function of having practiced on it for years. It is a long held belief for me that you should never try a new ingredient AND a new technique at the same time and this restaurant is antithetical to that notion for me.
All in all I was pleased with the meal. The flavors were great and the experience is neat. The problem for me is that the check, with tip, was $86.00 for just the two of us. No alcohol was purchased, my wife had a Pepsi and I drank water. For 86 I could get an equal or even, much better, meal and not have to cook it myself. I was happy for the experience but at that price point I likely...
Read moreWe arrived when they had just opened up for the day on 12/22/19 there were not many people there at that time .Summer seated us and got us ready with how things go and shortly after Tyler became our waiter. The place is very clean and organized there is a little lag time between orders but that is due to this being a new restaurant new ,employees and it got extremely busy fast the restaurant was full in no time. There is a time limit on the all you can eat but for a good reason and I understand why but that is OK the quality of the food is great . K Town " Accomplishes "what I feel is important about a restaurant is that it encourages " HUMAN " conversation and interaction between you and your company which is lacking these days , there is frosted glass that separate the seating from the opposite side . Time flies by when you are cooking your food and having a pleasant conversation . The staff here is very polite and willing to answer any questions and if they don't know they find out very quickly. Nowadays with everything being fast food and ordering online the whole nostalgia of having a pleasant dinner or meal is coming far and few between K Town is definitely a spot to go to, If you want a good meal whether it is all you can eat or ordering a specific entree. There is definitely pride in this establishment you can tell from the tidy bathrooms to the clean silverware and the employees and let's not forget the good food . I went with my brother-in-law this time , we had been waiting a while for this place to open up and next time I will not have any concerns on bringing my wife I'm very picky on the places I bring her because we have children and anytime we are able to have time to ourselves It's my job to make sure that she has a good time when we go out . Meaning " No stress , Good Food and Comfortable Environment " Well done K Town you did not disappoint at all , I cannot stress how important now a days that with word-of-mouth being the best advertisement I give them 5 stars and will be back again soon but at night time to see if it still shines brightly at night . Again I would like to thank Summer and will done Tyler on your 3rd day and conducting yourself in a professional manner under stress and making us feel comfortable . You did an...
Read moreI go here to get my KBBQ fix due to the convenience in location. I have had KBBQ all over California so my expectations for KBBQ tends to get pretty high (a bit snotty of me, I know).
This is a secondary location off of their main Portland one - i haven't been to Portland so my review is solely for this Vancouver location. I do hear Beaverton has better ones but I haven't made my way out there yet. Although after a third time at this place, I can conclude that this place is a bit disappointing in the quality & options of their menu.
We recently went to this place over the weekend because our friend never had KBBQ before. She absolutely loved it but their quality is really just average at best. But if you have never been to eat at AYCE KBBQ and you're in the area - yes go try it out. But for me and my boyfriend, it was okay.
Their AYCE is about 35 dollars per person and you do get a large menu option. But seeing as I only like beef & pork (as chicken take forever to cook), I narrow my choices to either or. Their dipping sauce is underwhelming (just oil and vinegar). I ordered steam egg which you can only order once per table. If you want a second steam egg, you have to pay $5 for an additional order which is a bit stingy. There is no appetizers with their AYCE.
Service - they are pretty quick so I never really had to flag anyone down. The issue is that the 3x we have been here, we had to request to change out our grill when it's charred. Which is not really a huge problem and this may be a result due to lack of training from management in places like this - but if the grill is startting to get charred pretty badly, the grill should be offered to switch out. But when we did request to get a grill change, they did it immediately. Service was quick and friendly each time...
