I met Ramon Valdez, founder of Fine Art Solutions, many years ago when he was working out of his garage. Last year by chance I was referred to his company FINE ART SOLUTIONS by a serious art dealer. So I reached out to FINE ART SOLUTIONS to explain what I was looking for. Ramon Valdez the owner took the call and reminded me of our past working encounter. He sounded so friendly and suggested I visit his shop. As my studio is in downtown Los Angeles I was close enough to quickly go visit the FINE ART SOLUTIONS production space. Mr. Valdez and I had a wonderful conversation and he presented his company as a high end, meticulous, precision, custom framing and mounting studio. His friendliness, confidence and assurances led me to trust him enough to propose nearly $100,000 of work needing urgent production. Every detail was discussed and documented and certainly tolerances were promised. And based on my long conversation with Mr. Valdez I had enough confidence to deliver hundreds of my artworks to his studio for mounting and framing production as was agreed to all of his written proposals.
Unfortunately my experience with FINE ART SOLUTIONS was extremely uncomfortable and extremely disappointing. I would not recommend anyone work with this company for any reason whatsoever. I will not go into details. However to add context, I have been showing in galleries and museums since 1982 and have had works mounted and or framed dating back to my first show in New York City at the Annina Nosei Gallery. My experience with FINE ART SOLUTIONS was by far the most unpleasant of any framer experience I have ever had. And I found Ramon Valdez the most unpleasant person I have come across in years.
Los Angeles is funny, people get recommended simply because someone heard from someone who heard from someone who heard. After my ugly experience with FINE ART SOLUTIONS several other folks I discovered had work done there felt mentioned they felt the same way as me. Especially about Mr. Valdez.
I strongly do not recommend FINE...
Read moreFAS has been my framing partner for over 5 years now. This is NOT your fast and cheap frame shop. FAS is your museum quality framing service provider. You can't even call it a frame shop, because it's the real deal. Most "frame shops" come in different tiers of production, this is the TOP tier and that explains why they are in a commercial part of LA. Every department (wood frame, metal frame, paint section, mounting and fitting) is larger than an entire average frame shop. FAS will build you a quality frame that will not be splitting apart after a few weeks/months because their construction method goes beyond the simple stapled wood corners. Another unique ability is their artwork size capability. There are VERY few places that can handle and create solid framing options for the "oversize" category of artworks, think 60 x 120 inches. We've even worked on pieces that were 64 x 205 inches and 145...
Read moreOh, please. These people have forgotten more about framing than most people ever learn. I do the easy framing myself; when I have a tough job that needs to be perfect, I take it to Absolute! in Culver City, but when I have an incredibly difficult job that no one else on earth would even touch, I take it to Fine Art Solutions. They are the end of the road, the horse's mouth, the masters. Walk in the door, take a look around and in ten seconds you'll...
