I had called on Monday of last week asking if I could set up an appointment to trade in my collection. Consisting of Transformers, LEGO, Sonic figures, and Bakugan. Most of it being loose, but a couple still with boxes. I had confirmed a date of that Friday. I came all the way from New Jersey and when I went in for my appointment, the workers were absolutely stunned upon my arrival. I mentioned I had an appointment with the owner. They had mentioned to me that they were doing no appointments today. I assumed they thought I hadn't made one prior. So I mentioned my name, the fact I called several days in advance and had CONFIRMED an appointment. They mentioned to me that the owner had a last minute emergency and they cancelled all appointments. Why I wasn't called for this prior is beyond me but they mentioned there was nothing they could do besides reschedule me. They suggested I try out another branch closer to me. So I confirmed an appointment for next Tuesday. I set up an appointment for the branch in Leona. I had asked this branch if they accepted Lego sets as the last one didn't. The man told me they do as long as they were complete with no missing pieces. (My sets all were) We had confirmed an appointment for 12 that day. They open at 2, but the man wanted to do it prior to the store opening so he could have the time to evaluate my collection. Upon my arrival I had to wait several minutes for the person to show up. When he finally did, I had mentioned I had an appointment, he looked confused and then remembered yes there was an appointment for today. Meaning if he hadn't shown up at that time. I'd have to be waiting 2 hours for the store to open. Everything seemed to have been doing well until I'm told that they actually decided last minute they'd rather not take in LEGOs. Even though they were complete. Okay at least it can't get any worse then that right? Then I'm told they weren't looking to buy loose figures, then for one last middle finger salute I'm told they didn't want anything. So essentially it was a waste of gas, time, and money. They flat out told me that they don't buy things at retail or even what price they're worth. They buy things at 30% of their value. They were essentially looking to spend like $20 on the whole thing. The thing is most of my stuff isn't like dollar store knockoffs. If that were the case I'd understand completely. They're like legit collectors items. I'd honestly give 0 stars if I could. You're better off just selling your collection on eBay. Avoid these branches at all costs. They wanna pay pennies for what your collection is actually worth. And you know the best thing about it all is? The Nyack branch is selling an Age of Extinction Voyager Class Galvatron figure for $120! For those unaware. That figure retailed for $30. It was a garbage figure that has since then not seen any increase in value. The thing sells on eBay for still its original retail price. And it's not even like it's got a signature from the actor who played him or the Takara one with a better paint job from Japan. No it's the Hasbro one. So they don't even wanna rip off potential sellers, but customers as well. Incredibly classy. This branch specifically is incredibly tiny. So if you're looking for something else besides Pop figures you're better off...
Read moreI really hope to see more stores like this pop up! Since we lost Toys R Us, and the major retail stores just don’t cut it, we need toy and collectible shops like this that are owned and operated by fellow fans and collectors and not a major corporation. I’ve spent so much money here just since they opened, and every time it’s a great experience. It’s like going over your friends house who has the biggest collection ever of pops and toys, AND you get to take some home with you!
Yes. Some items are expensive. But I 100% disagree with the other reviewer that mentioned pop price guide prices...the owner Jesse is always down to haggle and never gets offended or defensive over offers, and if you show him a sold eBay price he’ll usually match it! It’s impossible to keep up with daily up and down price changes with pops, the important thing is to have a seller that’s open minded and a fair negotiator. But you just can’t please some people I guess!
All I can say is if you collect Funko pops & awesome toys/statues, this is a place you...
Read moreSo I really love the store, huge variety, me and my friends go there all the time befor covid. Really nice staff that provides great conversation. They are also really helpful. However I do have one concern. I saw another review from an dissarfied customer who claims the owners say something rude/inappropriate. This could just be a lie but I like to dig deeper into topics than just picking a side and choosing. I would like to hope the owner didn't say something rude. I will still continue my business there but I will be a little suspicious. Thank you have a great day, who ever is...
