Half a block north of Barrington Recreation Center, here’s more tree lined open space to play baseball, soccer and do whatever within reason! A park for people and dogs, there’s also an enclosed dog run at the lower end of the parking lot allowing space for dog walkers and apartment dwellers to go with fun loving pets! The park is on land from the north end of the VA Center and includes a tribute to our military services. There’s paid parking spaces available and temporary street-side bus staging as permitted, with drivers in attendance. A locked portable toilet may be available for team use and paid parking user’s. Read moreFrom New Directions building 116 the walk is far, I could see the pool area but had no one there to ask questions or had access to the locker rooms. One person who appeared to be to young to be in the military was practicing shots, a socker game by weekend friends, tennis court had two players one person in the weight/elliptical tent. I took the back trail getting there, the Bonsill street going back and for me it was a workout both ways. Read moreNice dog park with lots of space. Only one large area, nothing for small dogs only that I’m aware of. It’s a mixture of wood chips and dirt, so it can get muddy if it’s wet out. There’s a large paved area that many people used for walking while there dogs played. Several large trees provide plenty of shade. I counted 7 permanent benches and maybe 5 more temporary ones.
