Half a block north of Barrington Recreation Center, here’s more tree lined open space to play baseball, soccer and do whatever within reason! A park for people and dogs, there’s also an enclosed dog run at the lower end of the parking lot allowing space for dog walkers and apartment dwellers to go with fun loving pets! The park is on land from the north end of the VA Center and includes a tribute to our military services. There’s paid parking spaces available and temporary street-side bus staging as permitted, with drivers in attendance. A locked portable toilet may be available for team use and paid parking user’s. Otherwise, public restrooms are available during operating hours at the nearby Barrington Recreation Center, just steps away.

Dog park is open and much improved. This is on VA property; there are parking fees but free for veterans, street parking is nearby. Adjacent ball fields with plenty of grass are also used for off-leash play. Many dog sitter/handlers come during the day so there are plenty of dogs to socialize with.

They started charging for parking at this park, which is owned by the VA but maintained and funded by LA Parks and Recs through LA taxes. Parking comes out to 7/hour for use of an all-dirt dog park, which the VA makes money on even though taxpayers are maintaining the park.

From New Directions building 116 the walk is far, I could see the pool area but had no one there to ask questions or had access to the locker rooms. One person who appeared to be to young to be in the military was practicing shots, a socker game by weekend friends, tennis court had two players one person in the weight/elliptical tent. I took the back trail getting there, the Bonsill street going back and for me it was a workout both ways. I didn't see any signs giving directions so if you don't know how to go there you will have a very hard time finding it from...

Nice dog park with lots of space. Only one large area, nothing for small dogs only that I’m aware of. It’s a mixture of wood chips and dirt, so it can get muddy if it’s wet out. There’s a large paved area that many people used for walking while there dogs played. Several large trees provide plenty of shade. I counted 7 permanent benches and maybe 5 more temporary ones. Water fountain for the dogs with bowls for drinking. Lots of parking spaces and next to several large...
