I've been to Boulevard Jewelers & Coins in Lonbard on St. Charles road several times now. The owner, Al is hands down the most honest person I've met in this business. I'm a junker, I remove unwanted items from condemned properties, homes where the resident (s) have passed away and so on. I find jewelry of all kinds and coins and other collectables. My first time in the shop I went with a few pieces of Sterling Silver as well as a few silver plated pieces. A "Cash for Gold and silver" place had tokd me it was all worthless and offered me ten bucks. I decided to stop at Boulevard to see how they were; basically I wanted a second opinion. The silver plated items aren't worth much but Al baught them anyway (this is the ONLY place I've come across that even buys plated silver! They also baught the few pieces of sterling I had too, I walked away with $85 total! From them on, I've been going to Al for everything I find that I think may be valuable. Not everything is but right before Christmas 2015 I worked a job & stumbled on quite a few gold teeth. I braught them to Al. He weighed them all out, examined them and asked me what I wanted for them. I had no clue as to their value so I asked for $1,000. Al shook his head, smiled and said, " Ok, I could give you a thousand but truthfully, u have quite a bit more money due to you, how about $2,500!!! I was ecstatic as he certainly did NOT have to do that - I would've settled for $1,000 & never known any better but he was honest with me and paid me top dollar. He is the most honest, friendliest guy in town, hell in the city - to do business with. It's always a pleasure. If u have jewelry and don't know it's value and want an honest appraisal, I have no qualms about recommending Boulevard - you will not be sorry!!! Great people,...
Read moreIgnore that previous review! I saw that, and feel compelled to write my first ever review. I've been going to Boulevard for almost 30 years. I bought silver bullion from Al in the 80's, because he had the fairest prices. I entrusted him with all of my mother's jewelry when she passed. My (now fiance) entrusted her Mom's jewelry from Ireland to Boulevard after going to 3 other places first. Their offer was the highest, and Al took a lot of time with her father explaining everything first. I've bought jewelry there, cashed in my coin collection, I even bought the gold bracelet right off Al's wrist. (and sold it back to him years later!) Boulevard just replaced the lost diamond from my Mom's engagement ring. Not fancy, just an honest, "old school" jewelry shop and coin dealer. I wouldn't trust anyone else. Vern...
Read moreI don't expect much from these places, but this guy ticked me off because he was so sneaky. I brought in 4 unmatched earrings. Three of them were gold and he gave me $9. Much less than they are worth, I'm sure since they also had some diamonds and other stones in them. The fourth was silver and I expected to get that back, but after he gave me the money, I asked for the silver earring and he said he bought it from me for 10 cents. That earring also had diamonds in it, so he will certainly be making a sweet profit. The invoice does not list the silver earring. Clearly he just thought he would sneak that by me. It's not worth the effort for me to argue with him, but it's certainly...
