My husband and I met with the deacon to talk about learning more about the faith after being away from the church for more than 10 years. I was so excited to get involved and be part of a community so you can imagine how crushed I felt when he told me I probably wouldn’t be allowed to take part fully in the service since I was divorced. I attended Mass at St. Alexander's Catholic Church in Villa Park this morning on the feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. I was grateful for the opportunity to meet Deacon Matt. He encouraged his parishioners to pray the Rosary daily and to have a devotion to Our Blessed Mother. The Cantor has a lovely voice and she sang several songs I recognized. This is a beautiful Church. It has many statues to Our Lord, Blessed Mother and the saints, stain glass windows and many flowers.
